EBay Seller of the Month

totally agree with everything you said Rob, some people out there do not really look at who is who, we all make typos typos typos every now and thennnn.

Its nothing to do with the typo it is the cards themselves being auctioned/

Unfortunately for me collecting is now mostly done online and my contact with the card collecting community is primarily via this great site. I would say the vast majority of collectors don't know who is who and are in the same position as me. It is hard to know with so many sellers hiding behind multiple Ebay accounts and profiles and also I just wonder why such knowledgeable and helpful sellers don't join this community to educate us and help grow our knowledge it would be to everyone's benefit.

I have to say that i am Disappointed that the seller, whom i have bought from and sold too, would sell 'bootleg' cards.
Each to their own, i guess. Lost a bit of credibility in my eyes.

Ross, I have now lived in Adelaide for over 14 years, There is bugger all down here to collect, so I know how you feel, I rely a lot on this site for info, I have a few collectors that I have been dealing with for a long time, I am not at liberty to mention names as to who produces what or what they do with them, I value their info and help heaps.
I have been accused by a staunch knights fan on this site that I do not sell anything or let anything go, that may be true, but I consider it as a bit of a retirement fund, hence he has been bidding me up on every number 36 card that comes along to make sure I pay to much, or as he says so he has some thing to bargain with. Which I do not believe for 1 second.
I do not use any more than 1 acc or name. My name is there for all to see.
If any one out there wishes to ask me some info about cards I am quiet willing to share what I know about them.

That is why i dislike 'bootleg' cards with a passion. Some may look good and be envious to some people, but they end up in the general public, who then onsell them and the industry suffers because noone knows about them, except the original producer, then money comes into it.
We can all make 'bootleg' cards and profit easily, but it is the wrong way to go about 'trading cards'.

Just my opinion.

I don't believe how everyone has jumped on Peter's case saying things like - "He has lost credibility in my eyes" and then DK Trading liking the post.
DK Likes the post that states selling Bootleg cards is wrong but he has purchased a set of them. People talk about it being such a huge rip off but DK was selling the One Community cards back a few years ago for $25 a card when I could buy them from Wangy for $8 a set. Is that not severe profiteering?

Peter would be the most honest and trustworthy guy on eBay. If he thought he was ripping someone off he would rather give the person the cards for nothing.
It is not a rip off to sell cards for what they cost and then let the market decide the value.
He had purchased the cards and therefore can sell them on just like any card. He listed for them for cost price - no rip off profiteering unlike the "5 star" cards that crai5150 was selling for $18 each.
or this guy http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/A-REYNOL...216?pt=AU_NRL_Memorabilia&hash=item4d24e380d0 selling them for $5 each (that's $135 for the set versus Peter's $10 for the set.

I think that Dave's cards a absolutely fantastic and would like one of everything he has produced. He is very talented. I would be very interested in talking to him if he would like to contact me.

A few people have also got into crai5150 or 'MyKnights' but please if you are going to give someone a serve at least list a reason or it doesn't mean anything. Grumpsta, why is he dodgy? batboy, why is he a germ?
I am not agreeing or disagreeing with you but would prefer to see examples if you are going to attack someone.

Anyway that is my rant. Look forward to the replies. :)

I have bought off Peter and find him to be one of the most understanding people if i need time to pay for something and his prices are always reasonable.

What i don't like is these home made cards finding their way into the market and unsuspecting new collectors paying big dollars for some of them.

A card or set of cards made personally for someone out of good faith for their collection should not make their way onto ebay.

I just think it is wrong to be making money on unofficial cards, whomever is selling them.

Mate you have just answered your own question you ask about 5150 in your response. But if you keep doing some research watch this thread and Read some of the last posting and believe what you see and hear you will work it out

You obviously condone 'bootleg' cards being produced and sold, so you have your opinion which we all do.

I personally dislike them as i had stated, that is my opinion.
I have been to many sites where people will make cards for you, normally under the guise of producing them for a local footy team, so i decided i would not attempt this as i would be doing something illegal, using licenced product, just change the photo.
When i see, as reported on here, that a person whom i considered to be the No1 collector in my eyes, re-selling such illegal items, my 1st opinion is, our industry is open slather to anyone, and anything being reproduced and sold without a care in the world, that is until it got mentioned on here, coincidently.
That is where this industry is right now, predominantly in NRL cards for some reason, as evident from more and more 'bootleg' cards being produced and sold.
However, i will not be producing any such items as i consider this act to be wrong, and that is just my own opinion, which i am entitled too.

I have mixed feelings on these cards, i personally don't think I would ever make anything myself and would rather no one else did as it makes me feel like I should be getting some for my collection however the reality is it does happen and if people cant sell on ebay or through here ( similar thing though) how else am i going to get them for my collection?for example I am chasing a 2005 gillette tri nations mark o'meley card and even though I know the card should be worthless I really want it to complete my set and would pay $5 for it if I have to. Someone selling it is my only hope of getting this so There can be a positive sode too.

Also just have a question as alot of ppl said its ok to sell them if its not for profiteering. How do we know that even those asking high prices are profiteering for sure. While i agree it might be likely they are and i think we are all pretty much against that but how do we know thy didn't pay alot to obtain them in the first place.surely if that is the case they have the right to sell at cost price.
