As promised here's mailday tonnage part 2 the rookie and scrub guards of summer league,

Nothing huge in here either (even if you scroll to the end) just scanning up my trade bait which I've acquired through a few lots...

Ben Hansbrough aka BOT (brother of Tyler), not a bad player in his own right...in college. Has good size for a PG but lacks quickness. Has basketball smarts and a big heart but has to rely on changes of pace, fakes etc to get the job done. The Nate Wolters from a year or two ago who never found his shooting touch in the pros.

Kim English is basically a spot up shooter who has the build to fill either wing position and even played the 1 in college for a bit. Nice looking auto and Intrigue have some real nice looking cards - under-rated set IMO. Unfortunately, for him my crystal ball says his future lies outside the USA.

Deandre Liggins is another jack of all trades type swingman. Decent handle and jumper as well as motoring in the open floor. Struggles to find ways to score regularly. His biggest strength and weakness is his playmaking, which can range from the sublime to the ridiculous. One thing the pros demand is consistency so until he gets that sorted expect a few more stints in the D League.

Jeremy Pargo is still rated as a skip20 prospect. Explosive athlete with a quick first step and a good handle. Gets into the paint with ease and either ends up at the charity stripe, sets up an outside shooter or can finish at the rim quite well for a little guy. Definitely has ticker and not afraid to finish through contact. Insane handle and a good first step results in some real ankle breakers. Assist / TO ratio is good and can run the offense but not isn't the best in running every nuance of the P&R. Lack of a consistent outside shot is his big shortcoming as it allows defenders to play off of this fact. Hit the links for some sick stuff. #bromance

Nolan Smith is basically an anti-Pargo. Renowned shooter and scorer from Duke who could run the P&R and contribute on the boards. Sub-par athlete who uses guile in getting into the lane and FT line. Well rounded guard who seemed to lack in confidence, even though he dominated the D-League and Summer League.....it never seemed to translate to the pros. Elite acetate - siiiiiiiiiick!

Allen 'Wingnut' Crabbe. Does one thing and does it well. Catch and shoot (well technically I suppose that's two things) off screens, contested, in transition. Has a high release point and good elevation which allows him to get his shot off in a crowd. Good rebounder for a guard. Now seems to be a fourth string SG on the Blazers behind Matthews, McCollum and Barton. Career is at a crossroads for the second rounder....

E'Twaun Moore keeps proving the critics wrong. Combo guard who can shoot well from range, catch and shoot, pull ups, and in the lane. Takes care of the ball and has a good ballers IQ but doesn't seem to translate into assists. Basically, E'Twaun is a tweener (say that ten times really quick)!

Marshon Brooks is a one man scoring machine. Known to rack up as many points as minutes played. Bit of a basketball black hole (once passed to the ball never comes back out) as he needs the ball in his hands to score in isolation. Coupled with his defensive attitude of 'the best form of defense is attack' he tries to outscore his opponents. Could be viewed as being a selfish one way player which has seen him on 4 NBA teams in 3 years and now playing overseas...

Iman Shumpert - big guard who is an athletic specimen. Good combination of size, strength, speed and a freakish vertical leap. Played some point guard coming out of Georgia Tech (renowned for producing NBA calibre PGs) he now seems to be more of a swingman who contributes more on the boards than with assists. Not much of a scoring threat since joining the Knicks as he doesn't have the best outside shot but in all fairness doesn't get many touches on the offensiely minded Knicks squad. Expect Iman to not be a Knick before the trade deadline next season. For a low end product Past & Present got the on card autos going well - with their infamous bleeding / seeping marker look.

Brandon Knight is still a young PG who can shoot, distribute and get to the rim. Scoring ouput went up despite the increased defensive attention this past season on the Bucks. Bit of stat padding on bad team?! He works hard and has been in the unfortunate situation of being on some disfunctional teams early on in his career. IMO the bright spark in Milwaukee and a definite upgrade from Jennings, just needs to keep those TOs down. I sense a change of scenry for him as the Bucks aren't prepared to offer mega bucks (pardon the pun)....

Isaiah Canaan is a shoot first PG. Off screens, off the dribble his main calling card is his jump shot. He's one of those 'irrational confidence' guys who takes some (a few) ill advised shots. Not the best athlete and a bit of a shrimp by NBA standards he will have his troubles on the defensive end as well as trying to run an offense as he tends to rack up a few TOs. He may be in for a few extra minutes this year as a bit of instant offense off the bench.

Ray McCallum is the son of a head coach and as you'd expect has pretty good fundamentals. An average athlete he changes gears and uses his savvy to get into the paint and find his shot. Much improved outside shooter. Question was always his ability to create as he was the main ballhandler and scorer on his college team but seems to have made the transition to being able to run an offense. Had a great end to the regular season and Summer League and has plenty of hobby love at present. Could steal some minutes off of Collison next year if his outside shot continues to fall.

Dennis Schroeder is one of the youngest players in the NBA learning the ropes at the league's toughest position. Makes some nice plays when playing the 2 man game and that sort of PG savvy is rare in such a young player. Good size and length but needs to work on his own offensive game to keep defenders honest. Hit the 3 ball overseas but struggled to put points on the board both from range and once getting into the paint. Inherits the 'alien' tag from Sam Cassell.

Glen Rice Jr the Summer League MVP. Not shy of taking big shots and is best at shooting from range but can also finish at the rim. Contributes on the boards and keeps active defensively. Kicked off his College team and sat in the D-League garnering DNPs but kept his focus, had his number called and went on to make the most of his chances by winning the D-Lague championship and being drafted in the 2nd round. After being drafted he had further D-League stints and then a Summer League spot in which he truly shined. One guy who has learned from his past and values ever second out there on the pine. Great looking cards too.

Jeremy Lamb is another former Summer League MVP. He has a scorer's mindset who was a spot up, catch and shoot player off the ball type player who had a good NCAA tourney run with the ball in his hands as the P&R ballhandler and in isolation. Shouldered the scoring responsibilities in the Summer League but plays more off the ball with two dominant scorers in Durant and Westbrook who need the ball in their hands. Can help spread the floor with this 3 point shooting and help Westbrook with his advanced handle on the ball. Can also step in and be the man offensively for the second unit. Just needs a bit more swagger and 'take no prisoners' mindset.

Trey Burke is a bit of a hobby star. Followed this guy through college and loved his game. Had a horrific initial summer league campaign and struggled to hit his shot with any consistency from game to game. Not the best of athletes he seemed to struggle with the additional speed, length and strength of NBA defenders. Can explode for some huge games and can run an offense - his assist numbers should improve when he has some better teammates. Bit overhyped for my liking.

Shane Larkin is a pint sized dynamo who has no shortage of self confidence. He can work every nuance of the P&R given his quickness, outside shooting ability and ability to find the open man. Can push the ball in transition and is lightning quick which may give the Knicks some cheap fast break points if going with a young and small lineup which is something the Knicks have been lacking. Tries hard on defense and can rack up steals but will always be viewed as a defensive liability because of his size. Takes care of the ball and will be a fan fave in NY with his energy off the bench if he can continually stick his shot. Killer looking GU cards, best GU I've seen in quite some time!

Isaiah Thomas got his pay day after scraping in as the 60th overall pick in 2011. Originally seen as an undersized combo guard he has proven his ability to score and run the show. Another sub 6ft guy who is meant to have defensive flaws. i.e. being short. I suspect there's a bit of stat padding with his numbers, he even argues about his NBA 2K15 rating! http://www.nba.com/suns/isaiah-thomas-2k15

Pierre Jackson - let me just say this guy can flat out score! Averaged 29ppg in the D-League whilst also chipping in over 6apg. Good athlete, good handle and a quick first step allows him to get into the lane. Good range on his shot as well as on pull ups and catch and shoot situations. Can finish through contact and can make the right pass. Struggles with TOs and his short stature on the defensive end. Expect some decent numbers next season from MCW's backup. One of my favourite card designs - this has it all going for it! Acetate, silver sharpie, nice action shot overlay - this card rocks!

Well that's it for now. Thanks for stopping by and having a gander and a read. Comments always appreciated. All cards available for sale / trade. Most importantly keep an eye out for my next mailday - pure PC gravy!

Love the write up, but I think we haven't seen the best of Thomas yet. A future hobby star and will only shine in Phoenix especially if the suns move Bledsoe.

Schroder and Canaan! Ma Bois! Haha I drafted them both in a keeper league. Got high hopes on both. Schroder a project, few years off. Canaan, he might surprise some this year with Lin gone.

Really liked Kim English too...shame he didn't stick.

Great lot there and very informative too!

I just can't help myself mate - I'm a much better critic / scout / coach than I am a player! ...but even then that isn't saying much!

Another awesome mailday Skip! Some great talent and some great cardboard to go with them!

...now if I could just routinely pick out all these sleepers I'd be a millionaire!

Looks like the Wolves are in the prime spot to overpay Bledsoe with a max 4 year deal via a sign and trade. Thomas makes an interesting backcourt pairing with Dragic - Suns could be back to their small ball antics again! Surely somebody else nees to move...

Nice write up as always, you must watch a lot of ball!

Just a fan of the game - I'm in a very good and deep keeper fantasy league so you have to know all the scrubs and college guys too. Keeps me involved in the game.

Spot on with Canaan, no Lin and Pat Beverley isn't a huge scorer. Take away Parsons production (that scoring output won't be replaced by Papanikolau and Ariza) and you're left with a bunch of role players who aren't known scoring options. Enter Canaan - Nick Johnson is another guy who could surprise. Schroder is indeed a few years away but he has the build and the PG instincts, the shooting touch should develop later. Killer inscriptions too - but you only get so many goes at an NBA roster...

Looking forward to a big season from Isaiah Thomas and nice seasons from McCallum and Rice Jr!!! Nice read as always mate

McCallum will earn a bigger role on the Kings this year but not sure about Rice Jr - the Wiz just have too many SG/SFs needing minutes. Pierce, Beal, Webster and they have to give minutes to Porter before writing off the #3 pick as a bust (he did look good in summer league this year though). Hard to see how he works his way in but here's hoping that he does![/QUOTE]

love the write ups mate, enjoyable to read!

Thanks Josh - I think I missed my calling in life - lol I need to write for Panini!

Nice mailday mate and love the write up...few sweet Pargo clips too, very sweet crossovers!

He's a poor mans human highlight film. I can see him breaking many ankles on the blacktop!

thanks for sharing great mailday.

Bit of Fleer retro goodness in there for you mate! So random I guess there's something for everybody!

Love your mail days..... the write ups are great!

Gotta try to keep the threads active - when you're passionate about something I guess it shines through!
