The kinds of people buying NT

I see where you're coming from but is this any different to to past?
I mean I remember when exquisite would come out it was exactly the same, there would be heaps of singles up the following couple days.

If it wasn't for these guys we wouldn't have any PC cards to collect.
The guys who really sh1t me are the ones buying 20 cases etc of limited product and holding it hostage to try make profit. Leaves collectors high and dry with no cards hitting the market.

Damn them all to hell!

Wouldn't bust it for sure, but it'll be the only product I'll eventually get around to completing the Base Set to /99 and the RPAs, I wish they'd kept numbered base and rookie sets really made a difference to me, seems like it's normally numbered base and unnumbered RCs this year for most stuff. Also have this gripe with their patch sets just keep a number uniform to say /25 instead of having 1/1s and /5 etc, they really don't take set collectors into account I've noticed.

Interesting to read this thread.

Panini are about to release National Treasures Hockey for the first and last time, as they lose the NHL license to Upper Deck exclusivity next season, and I've been contemplating getting a 4 box case.

Not cheap and I'd likely try to make my money back flipping anything that wasn't Canucks, but part of me wonders how overpriced it is, and whether its better to hunt singles on the secondary market.

Ultimately, the guys with the money are just wanting to make more, and enjoy being the one that pulled that nice logoman.

And there are probably a few with lots of money just wanting to pull that one they really want, rather than buy it on the market.

The problem is, if they do not bust it, no one will, and you won't be picking up that one card that you do want.

Yes, maybe they make some money and get that enjoyment out of busting, but then they got the money to buy up cases and bust them.

I might have enough to bust a case or two (but have other priorities), but the thrill right now is not enough for me to lose some money on it (possibly) to risk maybe making some money from busting.

Then there is the other side of things, that I do not have the time to sell off the cards that I do bust if I did. Where as maybe they have the time to do it.

Anyway, the long and the short of it is, let them bust it. If they want to be !@#$ and be unreasonable with the price, just say thanks but no thanks, and just wait for it to come up on some board or EBay. If it does not, then maybe the price they were after was not that unreasonable, and for you to put money down on trying to bust some cases yourself to get that one card, would probably mean you lose out more than you would have gained just buying it from that guy.

I remember people paying $1200 plus for Bogut Exquisite Rookies.....these can be had for a few hundred these days.

$1200 for Bogut Exquisite RC back in the day? And do they really sell for that much now?

I couldn't agree more, most don't seem to be busting to collect, just to flip or have the thrill, each to their own, I can't afford to do that, they obviously can.

For stuff like Prizm or some other lower end stuff, yeah, you can bust some to collect, but for high end stuff, not many are going to be able to afford to bust these to collect. Most will be busting to maybe collect those few cards they are after, but otherwise most of the cards busted, even the ones from the cases of 'collectors', many will end up being sold.

The Logomans look pretty sweet in this, but the flippers have priced them at crazy prices.
Yeah what is the deal? Are these the logo's of games they won championships in??? Low end guys going for $500+, don't get. I still remember the first time I saw a BOX of cards for $100 and I was stunned. Crazy where we are now. I guess I hate that "investors" are jacking up prices for those of us looking for PC cards. I get the "rush" of opening a box like that, but enough already.

Am I wrong in remembering that last years logomen cards weren't being priced this high?

And he still wants postage on top hahaha

Free shipping being offered within the US. Extra for international. Which is fine given the risk of sending somethings to asia etc. He'd be giving the buyers the option to select the method of shipping.

A guy told me he'd had a $500 plus shipping on his Adams /10 RPA. The first one to hit eBay just sold for $256. Which I also feel is high.

And I don't remember logomans from two years ago selling for (or being asked for) anywhere near they are right now, it's crazy.

Faried RPA's were selling for over $450 in the first three weeks last year. I waited 3 months and grabbed one for around $100. It happens every year, and with almost every product - wait for the hype to settle if it isnt super rare.
