What are you tips on joining in the group breaks, value for money ect?.....

Hey guys, I am a nrl collector. I collected NBA & NBL cards in the mid to late 90's & ended up trading them all on NRL. I look through the basketball threads all the time out of curiosity. I have been looking at group breaks for about a year or so and find them very interesting.. Im not super keen on getting back into basketball collecting fulltime, however, I may be keen to join a group break in a few months time as a 1 off thing. Just wondering if some of you may have any tips for me. I know its mostly random picks ect but im wondering if some are better value then others ect and why,.. so on..

Thanks for your help Dean

Depends on how much you have to spend.

Cherrys weeklys are $35 to get a team and it's quite low risk with a possibility of a decent reward.

The higher end stuff can be brutal, high risk, high reward kind of stuff.

Is that the general rule? Higher end, higher risk? I would prefer to have a crack at higher end but as a 1 off and to miss hit, Argh!

Definitely.

There's some breaks where instead of getting a team, you get a draft spot. So if you win the no.1 spot, you get the best card from the case/s. I think these are great for the upcoming cases like Immaculate and Flawless.

This way seems the fairest IMO.

Ah ok. cheers. I have seen a couple with draft but never looked into those ones. That's a cool concept. Im def keen to have a go in the future I think. Will just watch a few more and maybe wait on some more tips. Thanks Ben

Who organises the cards order? I mean I could think card a is better than card b but the guy doing the break thinks that b is better, is their some guidelines in place?

Depends if your watching the break live or not. If you were in the chat room, assuming it was done online then you would could choose the card you wanted but if you weren't there the host would choose the best card available to their knowledge

That's right.

The host would have an order announced after the break as a template.

Then if you prefer a card over another, you can put in your rankings, so when it is your turn they will know what card you want.

If you don't put in your rankings, you get the pre-selected next card off the rank.

I find draft your card breaks twice as good as any random or draft your team break, and thats purely because you are garanteed hits for your money.

Anything else is a fluke to hit the big stuff.

Though in saying that you're better off picking/drafting the Lakers as with the amount of HOF's from that team, you are pretty much garanteed the most hits overall in any product and the easiest/highest selling hits.
