I enjoy bubble mailers

Hi all,

Ebay.

The last two cards I have purchased from ebay sellers have arrived in white envelopes.

I am amazed that the cards even rocked up in 'described condition' in the auctions. Both sellers had over 500+ feedback so I would have thought I wouldn't have seen the 'dreaded white envelope disease' infect my mailbox.

It amazes me that fellow collectors out there think this is feasible to undertake this practice.

Props to this forum for ensuring collectors send their cards in bubble mailers and taking care of the products we all enjoy. When we send a card or receive a card it's always best to take care of it as your own - after all we're traders and collectors so we don't know when we may receive the same card back again!

Take care of those cards :)

Cheers,

yeah i still get the odd 1 or 2 off ebay in PWE, mainly footy cards but as u said it is amazing. For an extra what $1 u can be assured that r protected properly!

I have to say the last two I have received are the best packaged in a while.
Trade from Blowout - bubble mailer, in a top loader packaged between two filler cards
Purchase from here - bubble mailer, in a top loader taped neatly to another piece of cardboard.

so there are some good ones to go with the bad!

I think the difference in postage is 70 cents in Australia, but for a US seller to send PWE, it is actually a lot cheaper because they can escape the classification of "package" that starts at around $7.

The last ebay package I recieved was in a white envelope but was still classed as oversize letter and $1.40 due to the envelope being bigger than a standard one. So they still had to pay $1.40!
I think the $1.05 Aus post wants for bubble mailers scares people off ('hey this will pay for my ebay fees if I dodge the bubble mailer') - as a seller, you would think they would pre-purchase the bubble mailers in bulk off ebay to cut the costs!

You can buy the bubble mailers in bulk (by the box of 100) from Aus Post too and they charge you a dirt cheap bulk rate - think it worked out at around 40 cents each for the $1.05 size last time I bought them.

What I like to see is people use the card 'blanks' as protection in a team bag with the card. I always grab about 20 when I go to the LCS and they are the first thing I use, but they never seem to come back on the round-a-bout. So I implore everybody to use them if you got them as they are strong as hell and will protect from bends and damage.

I love receiving cards wrapped in Glad wrap.
Made me laugh reading that. I recently had to send some cards and put them in a snap lock bag!

Now to put it in to perspective bag
Was a preferred booklet. Was sandwiched between two filler cards, sandwiched between two top loaders. Wouldn't fit in a team bag so went with the snap lock

I try to use a toploader and penny sleeve with tape on the top and in a team bag (if I have them). To be honest, I've had quite a few PWE but luckily never had something show up damaged. The worse damage I had was a thick patch card which came in the 180pt topload which was shattered inside a heavy duty bubble mailer, so unfortunately things can still happen.

I laugh when you get a PWE and they've used the smallest amount of bubble wrap taped around the toploader as if that will really protect the card.

I have had them recently from ebay without any bubblewrap. Just a PWE and a toploader. You have to laugh.

I used to do a lot of TTM's.

The card I wanted signed was in a toploader inside a team bag inside a long white regular envelope usually wrapped inside the folded A4 letter.

The return SSAE envelope was a small regular white envelope inside the long white regular envelope.

I have had cards that took over 2 years to come back signed.

Never had one damaged, just food for thought. A flimsy toploader in a bubble mailer can easily be bent.

I used to always use a penny sleeve with the sealed part down, taped and inside a toploader inside a team bag with cardboard taped around it and then in a bubble mailer.

Also never any damage. You can pack cards properly without toploaders and bubble mailers and just pure common sense but the site rules are what they are. Just saying... I used to buy boxes of them for $38 but I'm not that into cards as much as I was so I don't want a hundred of them sitting around so I pay $1.10 for them at a time.

Either way I've never sent a damaged card, it's common sense. I believe hard cardboard, penny sleeve, sticky tape and an envelope is all you really need but again the site rules are what they are, ebay is all bets are off!
