I'm sure people will have different opinions keen to hear them for the following scenario..

Do you think getting an old Scanlens card 68/69 in mint condition signed by the player ,would increase the value of the card or not, would you get it signed as part as your set collection or not..

If I owned it, I wouldn't be selling it, so having it actually signed by the player would enhance it in my personal view.

If you wanted to sell it, best to diarise when and where you got it signed and perhaps get some snaps with the player signing it for provenance.

If it's a Coote, Simms, McCarthy, Sattler…you'll always have a buyer in me :)

Are you a Satts fan Chris... he comes into our shop all the time. We are actually expecting him tomorrow.

Am I what? All those 1960's - 1970's Golden Era players are heroes to me…even though I was born in 1976. Even my son knows who they are now!

Jonny is one of the nicest blokes I have ever had the honour to meet. I just wish I had one of his early cards to get signed.

And P.S. to Michael, I would do it in black biro but make sure its a good one before you get them to sign.

I also think it depends how good the players signature is and how they are with signing cards,
An example is the 2012 league leaders I've seen some of them look awesome signed because the player takes his time knowing it's a valued card e.g thaiday, campese others couldn't care less e.g. Prince,

For me if the player will take the time to do a nice auto go for it!

I agree with moz on this one - I would NOT get a MINT card of 60s/70/74 vintage signed if the opportunity arose. Personally I think you would be DE-valuing the card in the those instances. Find a cheaper example in good condition and you will probably increase it's value (if value was the driving factor).

Regards
Mike

1968/1969 I think the value would increase, probably depends a bit on who the player is though. (I like Blades thought on doing it biro as well)

If it was part of a complete Mint set that are unsigned, I woudn't get it signed, like above buy a cheaper version and get that signed.
