Wow some serious MJ BGS mailday. My pick is Triumvirate Illuminator, cuz still miss that in my PC as well. :p Thanks for sharing!!

thanks for the comments guys, I sometimes get complacent owning so many great cards I never thought I would own!

The Rave Review and Platinum Portraits 9.5's are the cards I cant stop staring at all day...

I put 40 BGS 9.5 cards in a display case and leave the other 200 odd BGS 9.5's in tubs...
I change what's in the display case almost daily though!

Awesome mailday!

I am intrigued by the platinum portraits. I collect the set (still need a jordan). One thing i've noticed on some is how the centering of the cut/imprint itself can often be a bit off, leaving one of the edges (or worse when both) like a square wave
squarewavefigure1.jpg

I have this on most of mine, is it intentional?

i wonder what the norm is meant to be for these, as this seems to have centring as 10, but has a bit of a jagged edge at the bottom where the cut/imprint seems too close to the edge?
They're one of my favourite card/sets so it's easily overlooked!

I've had about 10 of the MJ's ungraded over the past few years trying to find one that would grade 9.5! With ZERO luck!

Everyone of them have had variable centering and most of them have at least one side ending in the edge you describe...Left side or bottom edge..

I have owned 3 out of the 5 that are graded in BGS 9.5 (It's pop 5 only!) at some stage and again they each have had variance among the 9.5's...

2 were the same the other was left side full jagged edge so to speak...

The going rate on the MJ in BGS 9.5 is staggering, if I said it on here people would have a heart attack!

But the set is very underrated ungraded and is probably one of the nicest and original ideas to come out of the 90's insert designs...

I think the edging is a common problem and as long as it's not letting go or falling apart/chipping it shouldn't have an affect on grading, but than again grading is some times far too subjective to know what will pass and what wont...

I started on the set myself and got nowhere and ended up buying another MJ ungraded and of course it was in terrible condition even though the seller said MINT,MINT,MINT...

3 of the 5 9.5's are in Australia in collections never to be sold, Nat turner has one and believe the last one is in china in a millionaires collection...

It's safe to say, the BGS 9.5 I have now is never leaving my hands again, $10,000 wouldn't get it(that's not the going rate of course).

I thought I should add, on the MJ card his head isn't lined up parallel to the edge of the card and that is normal...

So the dots may start to get closer to the edge from top to bottom left to right or vice~versa...

Also the MJ card often has colour fading or missing on his right eye(looking down at the card),

Sometimes the impression isn't all the way through the card leaving the surface marked but not enough holes going through,

Chipping on the all 4 edges is very common on front and back...

And of course normal wear and tear just kills the card like any other condition sensitive set...

I've sunk a lot of time into the card going over them and trying to locate 9.5's, so it's safe to say if you have any further questions i'll likely have the answer...lol

Here's a pic of one of the other 9.5's I had, Premium subbed!!! 10,9.5,9.5,9.5!!!
I regret selling that card and makes me cry every time I see a pic of it...

Yes, they're definitely rare. I watch all the jordans going on ebay. There's often things wrong them which makes them not quite feel worth it. I haven't seen 9.5s for ages.
