Nothing big today - just some of the new breed I picked up to have a look at some cards and give me an excuse to check my mailbox. The final card is one I've been waiting 6 months for due to um, "service difficulties" at my local GPO. First sent in September, resent to sender for some reason around Christmas time and then it finally turned up yesterday in early March! What's really annoying is that this is the second time in one year I've had trouble with errant packages - just isn't good enough... End rant.
Stuck at home basically immobile after a foolhardy attempt to make a comeback at cricket (the indoor version). So with time to burn thought I might churn out a mailday....
Let's get down to business:
A guy who surprised everyone this season on a team that surprised everyone this season! He's just a blue collar grinder but he gets the job done.
Miles Plumlee

Another grinder who made his way through the D-League and various other stints overseas. Apparently he's a big fan of the one finger salute which got him banned for life from the Korean Basketball League (directed to a referee in the Championship Series) and also a $25k fine when he gestured the same to a fan in Boston after the Hawks were knocked out of the playoffs...
Ivan "Middle Finger" Johnson Prizm /25

One of the most under-rated young guys in the league at the moment. Contributes across the board and is pretty consistent on a game by game basis, bit of a tweener though - not quick enough for the 3 and not big enough to play 4. 15 & 7 though next year - I'm calling it early!
Mike Scott

Big backwards step from his rookie year but he's long, lean and athletic. Fairly raw offensively and a bit undersized. Would have been a good year for minutes and development on the undersized 76ers but for his injuries...
Arnett Moultrie /99

Sticking with the 76ers theme - one guy who made the most of his opportunities is James Anderson. Been a bit of an up and down year for him but he does have some scoring outbursts which raised some eyebrows, but he;s also just as likely to disappear in a 0 for 7 type of effort from the field. To be honest I'd written him off as a bust some time ago....
Phenom GU /auto #26/249

Still sticking with the 76ers theme another guy who seized his chance is Tony Wroten. A combo guard who provides a bit of spark off of the bench. 13ppg in his second year in the NBA and he's still only 20 years old. Future looks bright if he can hone his playmaking (get those TOs under control) and get more consistent with his outside shot.

....still on the 76ers theme! Royce White was my favourite prospect coming out of college. He could do a bit of everything, score down low, score from downtown, rebound, pass and play D. 6,8, bruiser who averaged 13.4ppg (53% from the floor, 33% from downtown) over 9 boards per game and 5 apg. A potential modern day Anthony Mason type Point Forward. Invested in a few of his RCs but unfortunately the guy can't get on a plane so his career looks like it ended before it got started. Now most famous for challenging the NBA that his travel anxiety was a legitimate medical mental health condition that should be compensated. Just signed a 10 day deal with the Kings so all hope is not lost!!!!!!

The latest Rocket, Jordan Hamilton, good build for a SF and can crash the boards and shoot from deep. Pretty sure his numbers will suffer on the Rockets though... Has to improve his handle and be able to create his own shot. Auto needs some work too!
PNP

Lockdown defender, can drive and shoot from deep. Just lacks a bit of creativity with the ball in his hands. Surprised this guy doesn't have a cool nickname already....given his Swedish background. Maybe, Jeff 'Volvo' Taylor given his defensive qualities!

Signatures - first one I've had in hand and these cards absolutely rock! Love the photo too - about to throw down one nasty looking tomahawk!
Markieff Morris - breakout year with the Suns. Dude can score but please stop hanging out at the 3 point line and hit the boards big fella!

Reggie Bullock - classic modern day "3 & D" guy off the bench. Be interesting to see what he could do with more minutes on a team not as loaded as the Clips!
Certified RC

Nate Wolters. Another guy I've been keeping tabs on since the draft. True PG who knows how to run the show and score using his basketball smarts. Wicked handle, good hesitation and fakes doesn't rely on blowing past people, jumping over them or out muscling them. Has heart but will struggle on D given his physical shortcomings. Played at a small college and a bit of a, dare I say it, mini poor man's Larry Bird...
Prizm RC

Terrence Jones - Always thought this guy showed flashes of being a bruising low post player and now he's bringing that man sized game on a nightly basis. In recent games TJ has really hit Beast Mode... Little known fact, he;s the cousin of Damon and Salim Stoudamire.
Threads RC - love these big on card autos....

TT /476 - worst use of acetate......ever.......fullstop........period.......exclamation mark!

Marshon Brooks - everybody's favourite former NCAA scoring champ (besides Jimmer). Glad that he now has a chance to play with the Lakers but the guys has to learn how to pass and play without the ball, especially defensively. No point scoring 15 if your man goes for 20....

Certified Red, Certified Blue, Standard is Gold and Preferred is too... hah hah Yep, getting a case of cabin fever now! Glad to see these are all on card too!

John Henson - big man who plays like it! Elite shot blocker and athlete who just needs a bit more work on the fundamentals. everybody raves about Drummond and Monroe for the Pistons but Henson and Sanders is pretty intimidating frontcourt pairing too.
Threads RC

Jared Sullinger - the Celtics bright light in an otherwise forgettable year of rebuilding. ELITE rebounder and throw back low post scoring threat.
Marquee RC

Finally, here's the card that took 6 months to arrive from a place which is only about an 8 hour drive away. Sticking with the rebounding theme this guy is without argument the GOAT!
Dennis Rodman Sweet Shot GU / auto #89/91. I really like the numbering because 1989 was his first championship year and All Defensive 1st Team Selection with the Bad Boy Pistons. 1991 is when their reign ended at the hands of the Bulls and his Airness. Which is the same team he joined wearing #91 to bring them back to their Championship years in 1996, 97 and 98. Card has a few factory flaws with white chipping but I don't really care. Just look at that full auto - UNFURLED - not like the initials he literally scribbles on cards these days.

Apologies for the novel, thanks for reading if you did. Comments always appreciated. ..and if you didn't read, comment or like thanks for stopping by and having a look.
