EBay Seller of the Month

This worm on ebay should be stopped he is taking legitimate card collectors money for a ride :(
20 sets only please these should be $2000 limited edition why $22 ha ha ha lol
 
The Seller is a Tigers fan who has introduced a whole new line in collecting, however as Topps have never produced a NRL set this ebayer should have a disclaimer that they are a unlicensed product.
p.s. I have set 18/20

yeah, I have 2 sets, I encourage anybody to have a go, this is what encourages ideas and the like for the current companys to disscus and produce collections, just like scanlens did many years ago way back in the 60s. You could actually tell what year the cards were from, not like looking for a tiny year make in the corner or on the rear and the same old sets year after year. so good on him for getting somebody different to make them.
Just like the cardz sets from england, buy them and want more and then bag them.

I'm a big fan of the world club challenge cards , a bit thin but overall a good concept ..
 
There are quite a few types of unofficial/unlicensed card sets out there and have been for years, including these Topps Tigers sets. The one in question was apparently done in 2010 - I have 11/20. Tthere was another set done in 2008 - I have 32/40 (both sets are actually dated as part of the Topps copyright). The Topps cards are on very good quality card stock but my only disappointment is that the photo graphics have suffered and my big concern is that more than the stated number of sets were generated as they are hand numbered (but we saw that with Dynamic didn't we).

Other recent types of o/s made sets include the World Club Challenge series out of the UK mentioned above (eg 100 sets in 2013), 2004 Gillette Tri-Nations (not numbered), 2013 RL World Cup Final (50 sets). Locally grown unofficial sets would have to include the St George Reflections tin and other club specific sets.

I think these unofficial/unlicensed sets add a bit of variety to a collection, provided they are honest and above board about the numbers of sets produced - and that could easily be verified by collectors cross-checking numbered sets they have.
