I just want to get few opinions on trading cards..When i trade for the card i need i never look if the trade is sig for sig or gu for gu, if i need the card i will give up sig or gu for an insert of a player i collect, but what i find out few times here is that alot of members wont to that and only want to swap sig for sig and stuff like that. Lot of times i would offer few inserts with book value greater then the card im getting but still cant get the deal ?? in my opinon if you are true collector and value of the deal that another member is offering is equal why not trade for it?? Any opinions...????? :D

Sometimes people worry a bit too much about ebay value and not about the values of the cards to themselves, and that can make it hard to get a deal done. Not saying there is anything wrong with that, different people have different priorities. I tend to be that way with Outlaws that I have already or are easy to obtain, but when it comes to a rare one that I really want I don't mind giving up more to get it.

not for me Max..

i will trade any cards.. i hardly care GU or Autos... all i want is to grow my collection of the players i collect. mostly i wanna buy cards if i can buy with bargain money... i don't like to make an offer, if someone's selling at reasonable price and i can afford it i will buy it right away...

sometimes, cards are under valued or over valued.. i don't want to own Lebron James or Michael Jordan card, but always love to pull them haha..

i actually like same design numbered card.. i like to collect specific cards.. whether it's expensive or cheap.. in the past, i just collect same cards and same cards.. now it's a bit better, coz we have numbered cards. LOL

my opinion is, do not deal more than once if it's really hard to deal..

Both Max and Bargey, i have bought cards from both of you more than 2-3 times already. and still happy... and will do again in the future.. and i sometimes have better friendship with people i have never traded :)

I think a trade is a two way street and if either party is not completely happy with the deal then communication is the key.
I trade on bv value only because i think it is fair to both parties.
If i am trading a pc card than i want a great card to replace it instead of say inserts (irregardless of bv - which i do not collect) unless they are no#rookies.
Also if somebody is offering a trade with me no matter what happens with the trade i dont be rude or mock them if the trade dosnt happen, i try and tell them what i am happy with and what i am after.

I agree Ace e on a number of your points. I tend to try and trade on BV, or close to it. It is a measure on what is a fair trade. Communication is definitely important!!

Cheers
Rick

Im happy to trade one sided (ie: way in the other persons favour) for cards i really want for PC, and i have traded GU/Autos for base before

Well i'm not to fussed what i trade for weather its for what i want or what another member wants...if i really want a card i'll trade anything to get it basically even if its in the other members favour....

Agree with you Max. If BVs are alike, but you're getting GU, and they're getting inserts/RCs, then I've had a few who won't trade. I tend to look at similar BVs. When trading, I generally compare BV, rather than selling, where I'd generally sell under BV, the amount depending on the card.

i agree with what most people have said in this thread.but sometimes i think people expect the trades to always go in there favour.and instead of getting cards they want for there pc they would rather hold onto a card they don't need.me personally if i want a card i don't care what cards it cost me.but i think we all must remember a card is only worth what somebody is willing to pay for it.not what is written in some out dated book.
tony :D

What about Beckett value. A few times I've been in contact with other members who want the trade to go down to the cent and match Beckett value etc and it gets a bit annoying. I mean, haven't they read any of Chad's rants ;) Ebays sales are always more helpful but can be hit and miss also.
But if I'm getting what I want out of a deal and so is my fellow trader, then it's all good.

i have to say in the past i have traded in most peoples favour to get the cards i want, but i have noticed over the last couple of months that everyone wants the trade in their favour(shouldn't say everyone, but most people;) )
i just look at it now as what can i get the cards for on the secondary market, and what can i sell the cards i have for on the secondary market.

i was very easy going, but i soon realised that you also need to look after your own interests...................this is probably why i haven't done too mant trades lately;) and the fact that i have been to lazy;)

everyone makes some good points though , it is down to communication and what each person is happy to give up.

BV to me has next to no impact on buying/trading cards.

I tend to trade same for same, as a general rule. But if there was a card that I needed (which there is, SEE MY SIG), I'll definately trade in favour.

I like to get a view of what the trader is after, if I've got a few cards they're interested in, and only 1 I'm getting, I let them choose.

If both parties get what they need/want, then it's all happy families. Nothing else should matter.
