Hey OZCTr's,

Oz Group Breaks are looking into running a Group Box Break, priced no more than a pack of premium cards ($35), to bust weekly during Cherry's Live Breaks.

We realize that there is a number of collectors who can't afford to bust boxes or take part in $100+ case breaks, but still tune in every week and thoroughly enjoy the show. Therefore, consider this and all feedback will be appreciated!

Example. $35 per spot, 30 spots and each spot will get a Random Team.

Each week we will advertise the next weeks Boxes. Examples could be:
  • 1 x Immaculate 12/13
  • 2 x Innovation 12/13
  • 1 x Timeless Treasures
or
  • 2 x Gold Standard 12/13
  • 2 x Gold Standard 13/14
  • 1 x Timeless Treasures 13/14
Hopefully that gives you an idea!

We like it because:

  1. Allows more people to be a part of our Live Group Breaks, the more people who get involved the more products we bust and the more entertainment we create;
  2. Allows someone to enter into a high end product for a very small cost;
  3. Ensures consistent product is getting busted when people tune in;
What we need your help with:
  1. Just like some packs, some spots will not deliver a hit. In fact we hope they all don't because we are barely factoring postage costs into this. So, whats a smart way to reward everyone for their involvement without just creating a heap of work for poor ol' Grayson? Reward system, Discounts etc??
  2. What are your feelings regarding quality of product vs number of hits i.e is Immaculate more preferred than 6 boxes of Innovation?
  3. Is $35 a good price point, more or less?
Thanks in advance for all your thoughts!

I like the idea. I usually buy into mojobreak doing the same and then having the USD + $7 shipping almost end up doubling the price of buy in. I recently was in a 30 spot random mixer for $24, which is good cuz after my PC pickups I don't have more than that left lol. Sometimes nothing comes out (best hit a Terrence Ross auto), other times they are loaded (Kyrie & Durant autos in the one break). For a low cost risk I can love with getting zilch.

I'd also personally more hits over more high end... Or maybe x1 immac + 2x elite (example only)

thats would be good if it was cheap like that i think you would get a lot more members interested....

I think it's a great idea! Bring it!I spend $30 easily on a few packs from the news agents that don't reap anything, so this should be good!

I think it would be good. Reckon maybe you should have it strictly one spot per person. It can get annoying when you have two or three individuals with a mortgage on the break, so share it around. Could have a points system where you get a point every time you get doughnuts. X amount of points (five perhaps?) equals a voucher of significance (25% off?). Would this be a week to week thing? Or like the old box breakers club you used to run back in the day.

Limiting spots to 3 perhaps. Not sure we would automatically fill 30 per week just yet Noodles.
Thanks for the thoughts. I'd prefer not to have to keep a running tally of points and have to consistently fend off emails asking how many points people have... any other ideas of this rewards management?

It's going to be pretty hard to reward EVERYONE that misses out and I think most of us would understand that.

Maybe there could be some kind of second chance draw that everyone who goes hit less gets entered to for something like a $20 discount voucher ( or 3 vouchers $20, $15 & $10) maybe not for every week but perhaps once the list gets to 20 or 30 people or once every 4 weeks or something?

Or a 2nd chance box (something cheap like Hoops, Limited, Season Update)

All of the above assuming its still viable at the $35 ish price tag of course

let me first say this isnt a dig at cherry at all as it could have happened in any of the case/box breaks done by anyone.

The last one i entered which was around $100 a spot (purchased 2 spots) i went absolutely hit-less.

It left a bit of a sour taste, now dont go screaming at me saying ....well that's the risk you take.
I do know this, but the idea of going hit less is what has completely turned me away from doing it again.

So on the other hand the person/people that hit some decent cards would most probably have no problems signing up for this new type of break.

You can take from this what you want to, im just giving some feedback.

Great feedback Matty83!

We do send most customers a discount coupon for the website when they go hit-less, did you not receive one? pm me and I'll ensure you do!

We had thought about providing a free pack, but it adds to the postage cost and ups the price per spot. Any thoughts what would work best @matty83? A rewards system?

Cheers

What about the people that go hitless go into a draw to win a free spot in the following week? No extra postage required that way. And how many hitless pppl will you have really? Assuming you are busting product that has a good amount of hits in it, the most you will have is 3 or 4 ppl go hitless. I don't mind going into a draw with those odds.

To be honest mate and this is only my opinion but there is nothing Anyone could do to get me in another group break.

@matty83 haha love your honesty! We understand they aren't for everyone but the issue is an important one - especially for the people who do like them because without everyone who is involved enjoying the experience, at least the thrill of it, these won't be around for long!

@ozballer23 I'm pretty sure, given these are multi-box products and not cases, people will miss out :(. I'd up the price by $5 and include a free pack for everyone who misses but I don't have the time currently to pack them all out (for no margin). One day we will though!

I like this idea. However it may increase the amount of work for Grayson.

To keep note of who doesn't get a hit and organise a draw for the following week? 10 mins max? If that? I think the issue @cherrycollectables had was the amount of hitless people there would be - the only way around this I can see around this is choosing products that have heaps of packs/hits. You would have to sacrifice quality for quantity.

I love groubreaks, it gives you the chance to hit a mega card from high end products for minimal outlay.
The breaks I enter in the US are always "random" breaks, which makes it open to everyone to hit a "better" team. The best thing about GB's is that just because you have a "better" team doesn't mean you will hit.
I'm personally happy to receive nothing if I go hitless as this is the risk I am taking to snag a massive card. I'm sure most blokes who enter gb's are in the same boat.
My main breaker now sends out a hobby pack with every hitless spot.
A monthly raffle for all hitless spots for a prize (credit,box,etc) sounds cool as long as the guys who spend $350 on a team don't want more spots than someone who paid $30 if they are both hitless.

Keep it up cherry :thumbsup:

I prefer Random breaks and if you don't like that team you can always try trading and using paypal if trading for a greater hit team
