I know not every set can be full of stars (even Flawless had 'scrubs'), but Panini sure like to make the most of nobodys.

I like to think I have a decent idea who basketball players are, even if it's only that I've heard of them, without knowing much more than their name. If I have to google someone, they're pretty much unheard of.

Then I see this:

$_57.JPG

A guy who had a total of 6 years in the league, with career averages of 6.1 points, and less than 3 rebounds and assists per game.

What the hell is the point of including this absolute scrub from the 70's that NOBODY will have heard of, in a 2013-14 product?? Pure filler, purely pathetic.

Perhaps you could give us a brief rundown of your own glittering NBA career......

i think they need to do 1-2 releases a year where they do only/include a lot of these old school players and keep their other products relevant to the last 5 or so years plus legend autos

Imagine what goes through his mind when he gets the call asking him to sign 1000 stickers?

Don't get me wrong, I am one of those people who appreciate that anybody capable of making the NBA is infinitely more talented than I am, the point here is that unless you are the biggest die-hard Knicks fan you would never want this card, or have any idea who the player is. Why include it in a modern set??

I completely get where you are coming from but I also get the feeling that our US friends feel the same way about when you see Luc Longley autos appearing in products. Sure he was part of the greatest winning team in history, but not many people outside Australia would probably care to see him at all.

I guess with Meminger the key factors are that he is deceased, was on a popular team and has won a championship which probably help his cause here.

My only thing is that prizm probably isnt the right set for him to be in, probably a legends type set would have been a better choice.

Cheers
Matt

Elusive ink would be a better suited set.....

I see your point but these sort of players do add excitement to team collectors. I remember when I found out there was a Reggie Williams fan favorite auto in one of the Topps sets, I was excited and had to get one. Now Reggie Williams is probably in the same relm of Dean here but the fact it was older Nuggets player that was not usual Alex English, Dan Issell & David Thompson was what made it good.
