Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard was the talk of the NBA last season en route to winning 2013 NBA Rookie of the Year honors. But no matter how blazing-hot he was in collecting circles as a result, it’s safe to say that he’s even hotter this season — especially in the month of December. In leading the Blazers to 10 wins in their 12 December games so far, Lillard has averaged 23.8 points and 5.9 assists per game, highlighted by a 101-point outburst in his last three games.

The feeding frenzy for Lillard’s top cards that has followed on the secondary market has been every bit as phenomenal as Lillard’s performance on the court. In the weeks since the release of Panini America’s 2012-13 Flawless Basketball and 2012-13 Immaculate Basketball products, nine of Lillard’s Flawless cards have sold for more than $2,000; 22 of his Immaculate cards have brought more than $400 apiece. Makes you wonder what, say, the Lillard 2012-13 National Treasures Logoman will go for. We should find out soon enough.

Late last week, key Lillard RPAs from Panini America’s hottest 2012-13 NBA products — National Treasures, Preferred, Select and Gold Standard — arrived at Panini America HQ, the jaw-dropping fruits of a special wrapper-redemption program conducted exclusively through authorized Panini Roundtable stores.

Panini America created 400 new Lillard RCs using the aforementioned 2012-13 brand designs. Although most of the cards have been reserved through the redemption program, a small quantity is still available to collectors who earn enough points through redeeming wrappers, box UPC codes and store receipts from the purchase of selected 2012-13 NBA products (all receipts must be dated from October 31, 2013 to the present). The cards are being processed now and will begin being shipped to collectors late this week.

Lillard is featured on new autograph memorabilia Rookie Cards in National Treasures (99 vertical RCs and horizontal SPs numbered to 25, 5 and 1), Preferred Silhouettes (99 RCs, 25 SPs), Gold Standard (99 RCs, 10 SPs) and Select (49 RCs, 10 SPs). While supplies last, collectors will receive one blind-wrapped Lillard RC for every 300 points they earn from sending in wrappers, box UPC codes and store receipts to Panini America verifying their purchases of:

Eligible Products Points Per Box
2012-13 Momentum Basketball 30
2012-13 Panini Signatures Basketball 15
2012-13 Elite Series Basketball 35
2012-13 Gold Standard Basketball 25
2012-13 Panini Intrigue Basketball 20
2012-13 Innovation Basketball 15

The program will remain open while supplies last and there is a maximum of 10 cards redeemed per person. Interested collectors should submit their wrappers, box UPC codes and store receipts to:

For such an important player in the next decade+ of the NBA, those fools at Panini should have at the very least, flew the NT and Preferred stuff to Portland for him to sign OC.

such a waste IMO

Select looks normal at least seeing as most of that set is stickers anyway! But 12-13 Preferred is no longer all on card autos lol

They only had a deal for x amount of on card autos and the rest could be stickers......the oncards went into flawless (with extra cards they added which had stickers) and the remainder were stickers.

Yeah, I remember Tracey@ Panini saying something like that... complete lack of foresight with this RC release.

So Lillard is signed to who? UD? Leaf?

Still pretty poor considering he is one of the players of the future. Surely they could've negotiated better. All comes down to to the $$$$.
