Time to sell Rose?

I think you guys are thinking the wrong way..... it's not the time to drop Rose, it's the time to pickup Rose; buy low, sell high. ;)

Also not sure why everyone is writing him off as some Brandon Roy, he hurt his ACL yes, it takes time to come back from an injury like that, hence why he has been struggling early...... his most recent injury has nothing to do with his ACL injury, it wasn't even in the same knee and is nowhere near as bad as an ACL injury.

2 dodgy knees, maybe both different injuries, don't exact ooze confidence.....

When I made that post I didn't realize he was out for the rest of the season, last thing I read was that the injury wasn't near as bad as the ACL so assumed he'd be back in a couple months or something.... pretty shitty, but still, I wouldn't go writing him off just yet ;)

This thread isn't questioning his career, but whether to sell his cards now while they still hold their current value...

I am not sure how his career of playing 15 years for 8.5 years worth of games has given his cards the value they have today. Supply and demand. Most people I speak to don't see why Jeremy Lin cards are worth so much because he is average at best. .... I tell them it is all about Supply and demand ;)

Good point, also as many collectors have noticed Rose has totally stopped signing any new cards and has stuck to only paid signings in the recent past. I don't think the supply is as high as it is for someone like KD or Wall even.

Penny played in the years when basketball card collecting was at its biggest. Plus people that were young watching Penny are now old enough to be able to spend big money on him.
If you call "collecting at it's biggest" being 100 x 10/12 year olds collecting in the early 90's compared to today where a single adult collector will drop more money on a single card or box than what the 100 kids would have been able to spend in a month of collecting..... I would say collecting may not have 100x young kids collecting in every local market anymore but there is far more money spent on the hobby in today's market than there ever was in the past

That same adult spending big $$ was probably one of those 10 year old kids buying a pack a week in the 90's.

I agree with that. That is one of the reasons the hobby is so big today. Plus more people are aware that it is a fun way that you to enjoy your hobby but you can sometimes make an extra couple of dollars if you collect the right player/s
