Official 2013-14 NBA Regular Season Thread - SPOILERS!

Good to see Bynum back having a crack, hopefully he can keep improving.. It would be huge for the cavs if he can get his mojo back.. No doubt Bennett will come good imo

this is the part i dont understand. the guy has played FOUR NBA games, how can you say it's a wasted pick after FOUR games

The guy played 9 mins against Minesota and they were up big until the 4th, they were playing Gee ahead of Bennett. Add to it, they have TT, Varejao, Bynum, unless they trade one of these guys, it doesn't look like they'll play Bennett much at all. If the Cavs wanted a project, Noel would have been perfect to put on the shelf.

So what would Bennett's ceiling be??? Because I know Dipo's and Noel's are very high.

Bennett may have a rough rookie season finding his way and then be great next year, but right now the upside doesn't look like it's there.

Stop looking at the negatives, I have already said the guy can shoot the 3 and rebound very well.

You are looking at this with one eye. I'm not a Cavs basher, I've followed their preseason and Bennett as I had him on my fantasy squad.

Gee was playing in the 4th and Bennett wasn't because they play different positions...Gee plays the 3, Bennett the 4. Mike Brown said that he only plans playing Bennett at the 4, which makes him our back up PF behind TT. Sure he didn't play a lot of minutes yesterday but that isn't going to happen on a game to game basis.

I understand what your trying to say but I just can't believe how you can say it was a wasted pick by cleveland after the first four games.

he is a rookie. he is still adjusting to the game and is in a slump, it happens. the shoulder surgery doesn't help, plus playing against much tougher defenses and is still learning how to play the NBA game. cannot believe how much everyone is attacking him and calling it a wasted pick by the cavs after only 4 games, jeez
as I said before - defend him all you like, come up with every excuse under the sun. NO NBA PLAYER SHOULD BE 0-15, be it a rookie 4 games in or 14 year veteran. I'd be struggling to get minutes for an under 12 kid I coach with stats like that.
I haven't said it was a wasted pick, I (as I'm sure the Cavs management) would certainly be questioning it based on those stats

and Just so everyone is clear here is the list so far of why Bennett is not a failure yet -
  • Shoulder Surgery
  • Needs to lose weight
  • Sleep Apnea
  • Long term prospect
  • Asthma
  • He is a rookie
  • Still adjusting
  • In a slump
  • tougher defense
  • learning how to play the NBA game

All of those points are valid points why he's gotten off to a tough start. And you can add another thing to it. Confidence. At the moment Bennett has zero confidence. His removed himself from twitter and Instagram, saying his going 'ghost' for a little bit. So you can tell it's getting to his head. I was reading this on bleacher report and I agree, the Cavs might need to give Bennett a game off to clear his head. His obviously mentally screwed right now. Once he clears his head and goes back to just playing basketball he will be fine

Jarrett Jack on Anthony Bennett being 0-for-15: "There was going to be a time this season where he had a rough (four)-game stretch.
Jack (cont on Bennett) "It just that it started the first couple games of the season." #Cavs

Is Bennet the only player to have issues? Wait till he starts earning millions then has to deal with Alcohol, Hookers, Drugs and Kardashians ;)

Apart form the Shoulder Surgery and In a slump, don't all the other rookies have to deal with the same issues. (except for the Asthma and sleep apnea which if they are going to effect his game, why was he picked no.1)

I'm not into discounting this lad yet, pre-season showed he has some skill, but if I was the Cav's I would be getting a little nervous.

All those points are exactly why I wouldn't have taken him first pick if I was the Cavs

The biggest thing with Bennett is that they took a player that was always going to be a bench player?? Even if he did get off to a great start, why use a No1 pick on another bench player?? They should have taken Oladipo and put Waiters on the bench, or Otto Porter and put Gee on the bench, or a longer term option, taking Noel!

I hope as much as anyone that Bennett will keep scoreless for a few more games (until more 13-14 products are released) then I can pick up cheap RC Autos! ;)

Well some things never change, LA still dont play defence. With or without Kobe and Dwight, still no D. Giving up 6 baskets in the paint, 35 points and 6 offensive board to the Mavs in the first 1/4 all while only shooting 37% as a team.
