As I said, it has been some time since I collected basketball cards (I don't think I've ever even owned a Kobe or Iverson card lol) and I am kind of perplexed at what has become of the hobby.
No one seems to care about base cards, most base cards look like inserts from the 90s (tons of foil and holograms and such), the market is flooded with cards from sets of 1/100s and even down to 1/1s (are 1/1s worth anything when there are thousands of different cards labelled 1/1?), Upper Deck as far as I can tell don't even make NBA cards and Panini have so many different sets it is ridiculous. I'm not really complaining, it is just a shock to the system, virtually nothing in is the same. Except a lot of people are still going mental for Jordan's. I've only been looking at new cards for the past week so I might be wrong on some of my observations (let me know).
Anyway I got back into cards because I decided to finish of my set of 1993-94 Upper Deck cards. I had the base set finished when I was a kid but the inserts were tough to come by and expensive back in the day. But I've just finished that set (all Mr June, Michael Jordan's Flight Team, Locker Talk etc) and am looking to start a new set. Not sure which yet, something with nice base cards, interesting inserts, and not ridiculously expensive.
