Was scanning some of my cards today and just noticed that Bob Lanier's signature has changed quite a lot.. Is this normal? Do most players autos change over the years?

This is

And this is 11 years later quite a bit different

They certainly do change. Can depend on age/signing space/how arsed they feel on the day. I know with Ray Allens it has evolved between 1996 and now.

They certainly do... take Steve Nash for example..

Rookie year...

With the amount of stuff they sign....no doubt they will always look for a way to shorten their signature.

Another example is Anthony Davis.....

To recent releases....

Signing autos would be exciting when you first become famous. It would get old real quick once you start doing signing sessions of hundreds at a time!

As an FYI, Andrew Bogut signed in excess of 10,000 autos for cards in his rookie year.

Signing official documents where you have to sign in 4 or 5 places is annoying enough for me!

Can't begin to imagine the tedium involved to sign so many.
Thing is you're not getting paid $10-50 each time you do it. I'd be happy to sit down and do my Sig all day for $20 a piece :D

DJ Augustin's Sig changed for the better. He started off signing like this:

Then went to this:

I don't have the pictures, but search the Kevin Garnett autographs and you will see the difference between his early pre-UD ones (including but not limited to Autographics), his early-UD ones, and his later-UD ones.

As for Kobe, his current autograph is actually also his pre-NBA/NBA rookie one. It's just that he signs it sloppier now at times.
