Need help burning HD....

I know we don't talk about trading and stuff, but this is different.

I've got a "file" it's an .mp4 in shot in HD (High Def).

I burnt as usual with my normal software, but it won't play the sound. Damn great crystal clear pic, but no sound.

Anyone had any probs before like this?

p.s. works fine on my PC before I play.

i'm no expert but it sounds like a code c problem, try updating the software or new software that accepts mp4 files.

Do you mean you burnt the .mp4 into a DVD player (.vob) type of file? Or did you burn it and then try to play it on a DivX compatible DVD player?

If the later, it may just be that the DVD player hasn't got the right audio codecs. If it is the former, then I'm not sure. Have you tried playing hte burnt disc on the PC? That will tell you if it is a hardware or 'software' problem.

I have some software that converts it as a DVD compatible file (Vob I think), so used that. Not sure if I've done any other .mp4's yet or if that was my first.

So then, the burnt DVD Video disc (.vob) plays only pictures on your TV/DVD player, but works fine on your PC? Or does the .mp4 file play on your PC, but then conversion to .vob only has picture without sound (played on PC or on TV/DVD player)?

well, u need converter from mp4 to vob..
some softwares can probably do that, but i am too lazy to find out hehe.
mp4 is more compressed..so, i am not so sure...

i like watching mp4 on PC though LOL.

coz by reading ur message, u had no problem in watching on PC, probably u use media classic, bs player, or VLC player... coz they all have quite alot of codecs installed.. but i never try to convert my files into vob before though..

In the past when trying to convert from mp4, I have used a program called riverpast video cleaner.

With this program I converted the mp4 into an avi file (divx codec, with high bitrate you you don't loose the quality of the video). I think you can also specify the audio format/codec you want too.

You can play the avi file and check if all is ok, including the sound. If your can't hear the sound on your pc then you don't have the audio codec for it. So download g-spot program which allows you to see what codecs are installed for the newley created avi file.

If you don't have that audio codec you can now search for it on the internet and download it onto your pc.

Test the avi again, so you can now hear sound.

Why, you don't want to Google g-spot? I don't think that will help you, as you said that you could play the file correctly on your PC (so you must have the correct audio codec installed). You still haven't told me (unambiguously) if the .vob plays with sound on the PC.

I'll try the disc again tonight. It's only an NBA Game, but it's AWESOME quality on the TV/DVD Player but no sound. On PC it's not full-screen it's widescreen.

Will try the disc in PC tonight.

I use DivXtoDVD to convert & burn my Files. Thought I'd share that.

I normally use WinAVIVideoConvertor, which is pretty easy to use. If you have the proper codecs for original mp4 file (quicktime installation), then you can even convert straight from mp4 to dvd.
