You obviously have not been watching the SOO series for the last 2-3 years with Pearce at halfback!
He may be playing well for the rooster at the moment, but he has not cut it at SOO...

he came to the sharks more with potential the sharks turned him into the player he is
gordon has turned up this year and been the fullback we needed for years he was so close to signing in 2009 wish he did
unless they run with carney and maloney as a pair, id keep Pearce, i don't think reynolds is up to it, thats the one thing Pearce has going for him is that he's probably the best defensive halfback, he's not a liability in defence like most of them are.
anyway my opinion will probably change between now and then anyway, but i think sutton needs a run somewhere in there next season, certainly not josh reynolds for christ sake.

I would have had Reynolds before Pearce, or even played Maloney at 7 & brought in a 5/8 , irrelevant as to who is better, NSW have a lack of 1/2 options, Pearce is still not up to SOO..
I know your a rooster supporter and want to "protect" him which is fair enough, as if he played for the Dragons, I would look at the positives BUT he has not stepped up when needed...
Im not saying it because im a Roosters surporter Reynolds is not up to it if i had to choose someone i would move Maloney into halfback and bring in Sutton as the num,6 ,,,
But like Girds said Pearce has to be one of the best Halfback defenders,
And are we all forgetting that its like watching N.S.W against Australia not QLD The Blues have done a pretty good Job to keep close to them,

Pearce does well for the roosters but he doesn't cut it offensively at state of origin level. It's true he is probably the best defensively but NSW are desperately lacking in attack. The forwards have played pretty well in quite a few games the last few years for NSW and he's had enough opportunities. Besides, i didn't say there was someone better for the job, i said we are lacking options. But i would perhaps try a Maloney/Carney or Maloney/Sutton combination. Reynolds is good but maybe not ready for it.
