Yeah thats my problem, they will not be wornNo, i wouldn't imagine many of the 8 pairs or so pairs made have been worn! Plus they're not even my size...
Yeah, you'll only start to notice any breakdown in the first few wears. It's highly improbable that any pair will physically fall apart in it's box if left unworn for even 30 years.
If you're planning on wearing your shoes then there's really nothing to worry about apart from keeping them looking fresh!

In 1996 I had purchased a pair of 96 release Reebok Kamikaze II's in black/green. I had them in storage until 2003, when I got them out of the box and inspected them, the tongue was cracking and flaking when I moved it. I could actually dig out pieces of the sole with my fingernails it had become that deteriorated!!! I sold them on eBay to a US buyer, ( I think for USD $500 or so) with the strict implications that they were not suitable for wear.
The guy writes me a month later asking for his $ back because he bought them for his brother and he wore them and they fell to bits on him.. smh.

Shoes technology has advanced alot since 96?

That's why I only mess with Nike's haha! There definitely will be instances where that sort of breakdown can occur... really does depend on the particular materials used and time/environmental factors. I guess the rate of degradation can vary enourmously from model to model. I've got a pair of OG Air Max 90 (infra's) that only show light flaking/dryness around the midsole, but can be handled without causing any noticeable damage; wearing them is another proposition altogether!

Yes mate, I would not have any qualms about buying shoes made in the last 5 years at all.
If the product was pre- 2000 era, I'd probably ask on some forums or call some shoe shops to see if anyone has owned a pair of that model and how they wore and if they still had them. As mentioned before, it all depends on the model, meaning its probably dependent on what factory and country they came out of.
