How good is the Broncos management,Barba officially released 2day & the Broncos sign him up for 3yr WOW, love how they all play by the rules, this is what is wrong with the NRL, They make up rules and then turn a blind eye.....
Did you even bother to read the articles about it??? Did you think we where paying the bulldogs compensation so another team could sign him??? Of course we signed him with in an hour after all we did pay for his release.

Haha i think he was getting mkxed up with the milford situation where he is trying to get a release so broncos cant do a deal till released whereas barbas was a transfer so brincos have been going back and forth with the bulldogs to sort out compensation and going to broncos on same money for first 2 yrs

From the Panthers member forum tonight:

- Ivan Cleary has had his contract extended until 2016
- Royce Simmons will be back at the club in a marketing capacity looking after the Captains Club which is a corporate/member game day facility
- New Logo with the word Penrith missing from it.....to be known as the Panthers only.
- Memberships that can be paid off over 11 months and kids membership packages can be purchased and paid off over 11 months with a food component included so parents can turn up on game day and the food is included for the kids.

Aside from that it was a little underwhelming...

..

This is a great idea.

Don't kid yourself and think it all happened with the Bulldogs knowledge....

I believe the Broncos approached him or Barba's manager approached the Bronco's before the release was asked for but however it happened I like the fact that his contract is not for more than what he was already contracted for and that the Dogs get compensation. It might go someway to stop players leaving mid contract because they think they are worth more.

That is how it should work if there are no transfer fees. If a player wants an early release or even behaves in a manner causing them to get sacked so they can go elsewhere compensation should be paid to the club they are leaving.

I think that is very important for any of these players that transfer mid-season.

I would still really love to see the NRL go the way of the NFL, and have a proper "off-season" where players can sign to a new club in a Free Agency period once the season is over and the Grand Final has been played. Make it that no opposing team is allowed to have any contact with any player contracted to a different team during the season at all or they face very large fines. They could is allow "trades" between the teams up to mid-season or so also.

I think this "compassionate grounds" thing is opening up a can of worms.

If you can't honour your contract at the club you should be made to sit out of the game until your contract expires.

I understand Barba wanting to be with his kids or Milford with his sick father but why should they be able to play for another club ?

If they want to go to Queensland for these reasons then why can't they or their club find employment elsewhere until their contract expires ?

A contract is definitely not worth the paper it is written on these days.

The Brisbane Broncos are the worse club for poaching players and obviously struggling post Lockyer and seeing this is their longest stretch since winning a premiership, they are trying to buy one quickly.

Is this the new logo? It's awful if it is. Penrith have had great logos in the past.

Funny thing is, teams who abandoned their 'region' name in the 1990's, like the Bulldogs and Sharks for instance, are wholly embracing it again [or have been over the past few years].

It's an odd move from 'the team we formally called Penrith' to drop its name.

Is there really such a 'stigma' with the Penrith area.

I read a good article the other day, where it was suggested Western Suburbs should wrest back the NRL licence and get in to bed with Penrith and become the mega Western Sydney RL side and play half their games at Penrith and half at Campbelltown.
