This guy ain't happy. - read description -

yeah scrub rookies serve a purpose. i mean i bet a lot of people cursed when they pulled there Lin Rookies, then suddenly Knicks start him and BOOM! but once there past there rookie season then i dont wanna see any more of there autos, or atleast scale it right back to a few releases per player per year

you know what i cant stand? waiting on a redemption only to be sent a sticker auto. thats BS. Redemptions i can handle. and honestly id somewhat be happy with seeing more redemptions if it meant no more stick autos. i dont mind waiting, as long as im waiting for a good thing.

speaking of waiting my CP3 11-12 limited patch auto is getting pretty long in the tooth.....and i highly doubt they are going to suprise me with an on card auto :(

Come on man, bringing up Lin was a 1/1,000,000 thing. Sure there will always be that 2nd rounder that will get hot, but most will fall back in line. In fact, almost all will.

That sucks about your redemption.

Hmmmm, as much as it is nice to see people collect these guys, in a day where most people are looking for value in their busting, I don't like that there's soooo many scrubs that are out of the League after their rookie contracts.

Millsap has collectors?

Plus what usually happens is that the top players have say /199 and the rest are /499, meaning there's way more junk out there.

You are right through, some do make it big, there's normally a few steals in the 2nd round that come good. I'd like to see more on cards of the top rookies and less cards of I. Thomas, who will never start in the League again.

Surely there's a Millsap super collector out there.... No hobby love for guys like him, ZBo, Marc Gasol hey!

Yeah imagine how much the product would be if was only the top 50 players in the league though! Doesn't even happen in National Treasures! Small base set, low numbered stuff of stars only, $1k/box?

Speaking of NT, I just looked at the checklist of some of the stuff yest and couldn't believe how many parallels there is! The 11v12 for eg, wow.

NT is a joke.

I paid $13 for a R. Horry Notable Nicknames auto /99.

He has very few on cards. So for me, that's great, but if you paid $700 for a box and one of the hits was that. Crazy.

There's nothing wrong with top 50. Hell with Panini I'd settle for top 100. But they like to add the bottom 100 guys.

Have you seen some of the scrubs in the NT base set? Why? Why are they in there?

So you think the people would not pay $1k for a better product? i think they would, easily. I'm shocked at the money being thrown around.

In some boxes, yes. But a $180 box where you pull only $3 autos? Keep the scrubs in the very low end stuff I reckon.

Completely disagree. So people that only collect the "big time" players will now only get the luxury of having the best RC's of their PC players!? No thanks! Not only that, busting has always been a gamble......... packing it with just good cards would devalue the cards even more as they become more common as you now want good cards in every bust. People today are already too spoilt, they just want more, more, more........ back in the day (going from your name your comments contradict themselves) getting good cards was very rare, there was no auto/GU in every pack or every box or what not, this stuff was rare and hence has a lot better value; nice inserts were rare; yes it sucked when u got jack shit, but loading boxes with everything would only devalue the cards more and make that hit you get less sweet.

If you don't wanna take the risk, don't bust.... simple; go and buy singles and you won't have a problem! :)

I agree with you (even though I agree with 90sRulz also).

The difference is, not too many busters are busting for the base now. They just want the hit, if the hit doesn't come, they're not happy.

When you bust 90's, most used to collect the base set first. Any nice insert, or even beating the odds was a win.

Imagine the 97/98 Big Men on Court set having a list of 100 and there was 70 scrubs. Nobody wants to hit on a player worth nothing, which is essentially what is happening. You get 4 hits or whatever and most of the time they're garbage.

I'm sorry but the main thing that needs to happen, is less autos and more designs of inserts. Although, you do then get people saying "this set is great and would be better with an auto".

I guess you can't win.

New generation of collectors with different wants.

Not the point I was trying to make. May have missed my earlier post.

Not saying pack them with good player autos - Im saying get rid of scrub autos in EVERY release, replace them with cool (and some rare) inserts of good players. Keep the decent player autos and keep all-stars auto rare. Up the value of inserts by making them more collectible. Definitely not asking for more autos.

So, can I buy boxes again now please? :)

the problem is to many autos, it was so great to put a base set together when is was a kid and hunting for those base cards to complete a set, along with the inserts e.g league leaders, all stars and all the rest, now to collect a base is near imposable unless you have thousands of dollers to spend every year and they still don't have the inserts like they used to and thats ruined alot of sets because the replaced alot of the really cool looking inserts with autos and patchs and done nothing else, panini are driving out the everyday collector and in their place we are getting the money hungry scabs who only bust trying to make money, its ruined the hobby because now any kid can't ask his folks for $ 5-$10 for a pack of cards because getting a packs to much, the new cards are attracting the wrong people who an't real collectors, now i an't got a problem with the everyday bloke who busts a box and sells teams or players he an't collecting or his doubles, but when you bust a box, don't get a major hit, so sell the whole box because of it then your not a collector, some people might not like me saying it but its true, and as for expecting to get a major hit every box, yes it would be nice, but when i bust a box i get excited over all the cards, hell i just busted a box of fleer 1995/96, no autos or patchs because it was before them, but getting all the base set bar one or two and most of the inserts is really sweet, people have got to remember, this is a hobby, not a get rich quick hobby, if you can't get excited about busting unless you get a hit, then get out of the hobby cause your in it for the wrong reason

That's why I have more fun busting a $30 box of 90s than a $150 box of 2013's almost every time. It's also why I don't have enough space to fit my 50 folders of base sets :p

Exactly the reason why I haven't posted in the "show us your collection" thread yet. I have a bunch of base sets that I've busted boxes of over the last few years. I'll get to it though.

I agree with mat2323. Time for a revamp.

Bring UD, Fleer, Topps, Skybox back for the competition and then let the best card company win:)

plenty of good and very valid points....maybe im just old school but spending that much on a box with no chance of this generations best..jordan and lebron is crazy in my eyes
Dont get me wrong..panini are doing some nice stuff but cmon....at least with ud high end you had a chance at that dream card that will still be worth good $$ in the future
Time will tell but like many before... most of these new players the last few years are good but not that good !!

lol, know what you mean, but its awsome busting those box's ay mate, i love looking at the old sets, alot of work went into them and real thought, i love my 94/94 fleer, am one card away from completing it lol

how great would it to have the old companys back :)

my main point is that their was skybox, upperdeck, fleer, topps, so every collector could go after a set in their price range, thats what was great
