This mailday features the old school ballers who have since retired but legends every one of them!

Up first - a couple of big nasty on card autos of Lights Out Finley! Under-rated product the old multi sport stuff...

/3000

/225 with the Classic embossed corner - somebody bring embossing back!

Can you spare a Buck?

Nice design on these Marks of Brilliance /199 Unsung hero, ROY, All-NBA, 3 x all-star and 4 x All Defensive team selections. An absolute iron man has played the 12th most regular season games in NBA history and only 17 guys in history have played more regular season minutes. anks 3rd in all time NBA offensive rebounds (one of the hardest stats to get) and cracks the all time top 20 mark for FG%. Classic blue collar, lunch pail and hard hat guy in the paint.

Couple of Former #1 picks rocking the big on card Press Pass autos

Ralph Sampson - one of the Twin Towers with Hakeem

Brad Daugherty - one of the best passing pivots on those Cavs squads the Bulls used to beat up on every year...

Anther great sharpshooter (or should that be sling shooter?) - Peja Stojakovic - had to grab at least one auto and this one is a beauty - had to be in Sac jersey... Good looking on card autos, Topps normally does a good job..

The X-Man

Funny guy who talked a lot of trash and a gritty defender who I remember for this exact reason and clip....the trash talker got owned!

Elite /149

National Treasures /99

Employee #8

Thought this guy was a world beater at first - loved his shimmy on NBA Live back in the day... Nice on card auto.

Signs of Stardom from the Starbury

Another nice on card auto - this guys cards seem to keep following me around!

Malik Sealy - RIP - Legacy being the optimal word here. My first Flair Showcase card of any description and I can see why they're so highly regarded. Beautifully designed. Row 2 / 150

Walt 'Clyde' Frazier /99 - great on card auto of the HOFer

Cedric 'Cornbread' Maxwell 2 x NBA Champ and the 1981 NBA Finals MVP - that;s what you call clutch!

My first look at Marquee /199

Preferred Red /74

Preferred Red (again) /74 - rates higher because of the Celtics uniform - check out the golden bling!

...and my first Silo #01/29 - ebay 1/1!!!! Beautiful cards, done right!

******HALF TIME BREAK & ENTERTAINMENT*******

Marion Jones - former UNC and WNBA baller and Olympic champion - who'd be a terror on the fast break! Thought she was one of the all time great athletes who had that million dollar smile and personality before she um, 'dropped the ball'...

/182

..back to it!

Another cult hero with a smile and a game bigger than his stature. A stunningly designed card featuring a big on card sig. Glad it's in Hornets colours too....

Muggsy Bogues Chronology auto

The nicest of the 'Bad Boys' - Joe Dumars

Material Monikers Patch auto /25

Couple of 'Old Boys' - the original Bowman '48s

Ralph Hamilton a 6'1' forward of the Fort Wayne Zollner Pistons. Once was Indiana's all time leading scorer and dropped 60 in one game. In the off season also worked on the production line at Zollner Machine Works!

Howard Dallmar - 6'4' guard for the Philadelphia Warriors. Led the league in assists in the 1948 season (with a grand total of 120) and made his first all-star team. Won a NCAA championship with Stanford in 1942.

The Defensive Beasts patrolling the paint

Mount Mutombo - NT Colossal /25

....check this ad out if you haven't already:

'Zo - Premier Attractions - on card /50 - sexy bit of cardboard!

The Goggled One Kab Jab /50 - my third Kareem auto (if you count Kareem Rush)

Finally.......

Thunder Dan Majerle

Masterful Marks /199

Hmmmm, that wasn't the ending I was hoping for.......

Better chuck this in too..........

Court Kings Boxtopper auto /75 - biggest card and biggest on card auto you're ever gonna find my friends!

Well, that's it for now - the pile of cards to be scanned grows smaller....

Thanks for looking (and reading the history lessons), as you know any comments are always appreciated. Hopefully I will have something higher end to post up in a mailday soon!

Great Mailday man

Love the Peja (still need to find an auto of his for my collection)

Zo and Mugsy are amazing looking!

Great to see that Kab-Jab again and the Thunder Dan box topper was worthy of the "headline" spot of a Skip mailday / history lesson

Cheers Matt!

Your discards are my headline treasures! ...at least you know they're in a good home where they're appreciated!

Some sweet on card autos Skip! Thanks for posting those vids too, love the Mutombo add LOL

Cheers Ant, and yes, that ad is a real laugh....there's also a laughing baby version, the kid cracks up every time he sees it!

Heh heh, I thought there'd be at least one 'lone star' of a card there that you might appreciate!

Nah, love it all mate. You gotta see what else is in My collection. I don't just have pejas eventhouqh thats' what I have been buying recently.

If your avatar and signature are anything to go by I'm very impressed already!

wow! never seen a marion jones auto! great haul mate!

She has a couple, but like the track and field pic with a sticker auto more than an on card auto with a pic of her in some formal dress. Her, Cathy Freeman, the Dream Team and the lighting of the cauldron malfunction are what I remember most from the 2000 Olympics...

Been busy hey Skipp?! Sweet Jabar and Zo and Hakeem and...heck love'em all:hearts:

Hakeem????? You must be 'dreaming' Henri! That was Mount Mutombo - nothing dreamy about crossing his path! I probably appreciate the post guys more so than the guards which is shy my maildays seem to feature a disproportionate amount of Centres...

Yessss! Love that Mugsy

Overpaid (by my standards) but well worth it - everything about that card is just right!

sweet pick ups and that Mutumbo clip was funny as

I like the fact they needed sub-titles! hah hah Voice for the ages!

Phenomenal lot there Skip. Are you stockpiling for our table at next years National?

You know me, 100 cards in, 5 cards out! Stall at next year's national representing OCT's finest - let's tee it up! I'd be down for that!

Love the variation with you auto pick ups! I was a big finley fan during his mavs days with dirk and nash so I love those autos!

Wow, nice haul mate, Awesome Peja, I think the Lonestar autos has one of the best all time designs, love the Shaq and Magic Johnson versions, love that Muggsy too!!

Finley was always an under-rated player imo - could shoot and take it inside and FINISH when he wanted to. Awesome player in his prime....

Just googled the Shaw Lone Star and that looks fantastic! Funnily enough more often than not it's not the auto that makes the card special but rather the design.... The Muggsy Chronology being a prime example, got the lettering, background colours, picture and everything just right.

Very sweet pick ups, really enjoyed the history lesson too ;)

Thanks Ray - if at least one person enjoyed it then it's worth writing about! Story behind the cards is what makes (and keeps) collecting fun for me too...
