Hi all

im at a bit of a crossroads, don't really want to sell my lebron pmg green from 08/09, but feel as though the offer I have is pretty good, its my best card in my collection and really don't want to move it...the offer I have is from an overseas buyer named cardboy826, seems like a pretty good guy and has offered me 6.5k us dollars for it paypal direct, no ebay fees, but he wants a return policy on it if not satisfied, this troubles me some what because as you all know we have different opinions on grading/condition etc...
your comments and opinions would be appreciated...
thanks heaps guys...

I was in your shoes with my mj limited logos. 6.5k is a decent offer. The one question that was in my head was if i don't sell now, Will i regret it later? Will the card be worth as much as it does now in the future -is it at its peak? I honestly think that the pmg set from that season won't increase in value any more. I say sell.

i would probably sell for that price Aram. pretty insane

however I would have to fully trust the buyer to be go through with something like this, especially with the condition of the card
by trust i mean you don't necessarily have to had dealt with the buyer before, but things like if you know their reputation.
for example I wouldn't sell to someone who I know would knit pick at a card to get you to lower the price (give partial refund) once he gets the card in hand

there is a risk with these PMGs since the surface as you know has an additional layer on it that tends to peel. i have dealt with a couple of dudes who asked for 50% refund because of this - even though for a fact you can peel this off and beckett will still grade it 9.5

there are a lot of things to consider man. but it's a good position to be in

obviously it's a big call. in terms of $$$ it's a no brainer for me. but execution may be tricky

i have sold cards worth more than that before but it's to guys who have a good reputation of knowing conditions of cards and also guys who earned my trust with lots of deals prior to the big ones

make sure you take lots of high res scans/photos and discussed every millimeter of the card with the dude

Sounds to me like he wants to get it graded and if it doesn't come back a 9.5 he'll break it out and send it back to you.

Take as many hq pics and tell him it is what it is and you wont refund. You cant have your cake and eat it too.

$6.5k is insane for that card so I'd sell, just make sure you're covered in every way before going ahead with the deal.

Sounds like he's gonna be too picky. I'd keep it or get it graded yourself first and see.

^^^ This ^^^

I would get it graded first. If it comes back a 9 or less, you may not get offered as much for it, but it completely removes any doubt as to the condition!

If you want help to get it graded, you can speak with Brett (Mr Pap) or pm me and I will give you some options! ;)

thanks guys, I am thinking now maybe I should get it graded...honestly even though Im not a card grader, I seriously think this is in great condition, no bubbling, chipping, centring is spot on...what are the risks with sending it in for grading??

If your really looking to move it have you thought about selling it through consignment on ebay?
They are responsible for the fees & so so forth. They would also be responsible for it in regards to delivery to the purchaser I believe.

Tough call Aram. This guy is paying top end price for your card but has already indicated he's going to be picky (extremely picky). Do you believe the card is faultless because I'm thinking that'll be his expectations. Personally I'd sell because the price is too good to refuse but expect that the card could end up back with you, hopefully in the same condition you sent it (worst case scenario). Maybe you should consider Matt & Adam's advice and have the card graded yourself then there's no debate about it's condition.
Lots to think about but wish you all the best with your decision
Kind regards Ang

I've sent a couple of high-end cards with Mr Pap. He's getting the cards graded in person at the show. Less risk involved.

The risks are obviously the horror stories (hairyangryfella etc) but there's obviously the thousands of other good stories plus the benefit of being able to tell him what it graded, then if he doesn't want it you can keep the now graded one yourself or see what other big offers are out there.

The benefit now is that I believe Brett is going over to the US so will deliver them in person and bring back to AUS.

Unfortunately Brett's already in LA LA land, that would've been a perfect scenario. I sent some high end LeBrons with him because I know they'll be safe all the way. The postal system does worry me too much to send them any other way.

Is there any sort of insurance on them while he has them, just in case of missing bags at the airport, break in at the hotel....?
