I bought an item on ebay and it has arrived faulty. The seller has refused to exchange and won't refund.

If I placed an item dispute for item arriving faulty, do I get a refund if found in my favor or do I have to return it to get a refund? I don't trust the seller obviously as they have already refused. So if I return it I may not get a refund.

Help appreciated.

You should be able to return for a refund, but you need to make sure it is sent with tracking no' & signature on delivery.

Karl is right. If you file the claim through pp. they will ask you to return... With tracking etc. once the item is shown to be back with the seller you will get your money back.
Make sure you keep all you email correspondences to prove the seller is a prick just in case he claims he received empty package

Pretty sure you will need to return it with signed delivery tracking once the disoute is made to be almost gaurenteed a refund.

I say almost as who knows what the monkeys that work at paypal will decide.

If it's for a faulty item though you shouldnt have too much to worry about

Depending on the 1. item, 2. nature of sale and 3. the seller's T&C.

1. Whether it is a new item or used, whether the condition is mint or has slight wear.
2. Auction or buy-it-now. Most auction sale will be sold "as if" depending on (1)
3. Seller's explicit sign of whether he allows exchange or refund if goods are faulty.

Gone through this route before, in most instance, I will have to pay for registered shipping back to seller before getting back my refund.

Can you get it cheaply repaired locally as opposed to sending it back? Going to cost more to return, so cut your losses.

Leave them a Neg, and move on mate. Doesnt sound like you'll have much success.

If I were selling the item, I'd want it back prior to refunding/replacing too.

Send them a ticket to NEG CITY

So by some miracle, without lodging any paypal dispute or negging him, he has refunded the amount and told me to keep it.
