Not that i was really part of, as i just bought a few packs now and again from the newsagent, but many have said cards were "mass produced" during the 90's

I just feel as of right now and maybe for the last 6 months that there has been way to many releases from all the card companies.

Player pc's must be incredibly hard to handle and keep up with.

What do you guys think?

yea and no... I don't think anything is mass produced these days like it was in the 90's. when you can get cases of fleer for little over a $100 and boxes of upper deck for around $20. but on the other hand there are lots of releases these days with a limited run.. its all about supply and demand... I may be wrong but hasn't Panini sold out of several of there products this year?? if they are selling out they will make more, and now there is no upper deck stuff either.

It starts to feel like there are people out there screaming for new products to be released all the time, but i havent come across one of said people yet.

I agree with the supply and demand comment but wouldnt it be easier to have 1 high end, 1 mid and one low end release? Or do cards companies just rub thier hands together and say bombard the market and make people buy?

Having only 1 release in each price range may even cut down on the number of redemptions as well.

Another point, i believe /10 /5 and 1/1 should only be reserved for star players and top 5 or top ten draft picks. More cost effective and i mean really who wants to open a box or pack and get a kosta kofus 1/1??????

Also another point i just signed up to another forum where it seems most of the guys go by bv not sv, which i think is good.
Ok it wont work for cards /10 or less but that should be when you check ebay.

No, in the 90's it was quite the opposite, far less releases; but what people mean by "mass produced" is that because there were less releases, each release was "mass produced" and that is why cards that were /100 were much more rarer than they are today.

Can i just change my rant to "too many new products all using the same basic conception"?

There is totally way to much product at the moment. Being flooded with stuff at the moment and it's not letting up in the next month or 2!

What I like about the 90's still, is that you know what the chase cards are mostly. You always had 1 or 2 insert sets to go after and the parallels have really come in to their own and they're different.

With alot of Panini stuff, up until Prizm, I found you just had to get lucky with an awesome patch or low no. parallel.

Prizm makes it easy. Select for me is a little too much down the same path.

We have to remember, the NBA is going amazing right now, people are still spending HUGE $$$ on cards, so they will keep pumping them out. Card companies don't make any money from us selling a card on ebay. They need to move boxes. And collectors have shown that they'll still bust new product, people are buying a case of Select for what $1.5 - $2k??? A Lebron Exquisite Limited Logo with a pretty sweet patch just sold for $2.2k, I know what I'd be putting my money in to. But people still just LOVE to bust (which essentially is what it's all about as it is the most fun, just so hit or miss).
