Al Box Breaks Group

Just received an Email from Al saying Paypal have shut him down and he can no longer take payments through them and may have to stop doing breaks altogether unless he can find another payment method.....That sucks big time !!
 
Just sent Al a message...I wonder if it's because with some of his breaks, you get nothing at all if your team isn't represented ? So it becomes a game of chance ? A lot of the others will send everyone a base card or like Kidders a cheap pack, so you actually get something for your payment.
 
I have just sent an email too along the same lines, all the Ebay breakers put some sort of rider in about the payment being for a link to a video, a business card or a base card, still sucks though.
 
Especially for us OS guys that have limited access to stuff. Breaks were becoming a great way to build the team PC up. I shot an email to Jon at Crazy telling him to be careful, but think he'll likely be okay as his breaks (at least the NFL ones) usually have a few boxes so there's usually a lot of base going around...
 
I kind of reckon someone would have had to have dobbed him in too....There still seems to be some folk out there who just don't seem to get how it works....
 
Just been reading this. What a load of cr@p from Paypal!

Al may be a bit slow of a shipper, but other than that the guy has done his his box breaks very well. My guess is that with so many dodgy group breakers out there (I hear horror stories about them all the time on other boards) Paypal is getting too many requests for refunds and what not and is getting very strict.

Hopefully Al can work out another way of accepting payments (a site run secure credit card checkout system maybe?) and this can be sorted soon. I was looking to forward to actually having a couple Rookies to chase after this year for the Raiders instead of Criner and the odd Streater and Burris!
 
I think paypal may just be trying to cover their butts here.

As case/box breaks could be classed as a game of chance and from what I have heard you have to abide by the laws not only where the break is happening but also the place where the participants are located too.

There was supposed to be a talk at the industry summit regarding the legal issues of these things and maybe that has either prompted paypal to act or someone to complain to paypal.

A shame though as I am awaiting for some Football breaks with Al to see whether to use him again.

As many of you know, paypal is not allowing break payments anymore. As such I needed to remove paypal from my site, which was the majority of payment method. I will be sending out a communication tonight about status. I do have paypal back to full function now. In the meantime, the teams listed on the site are the latest available for each break. If you want a team, send me a note and I will tell you how to proceed as you cannot order through the site at this time. Thank you all.

As you can see, I have the website up again for viewing. I cannot take any order through the site, but can send you an invoice upon request for any teams that are available for the current breaks. Please send requests for product and the teams you want to either amakley@yahoo.com or amakley@boxbreakings.com. The team breaks posted now are likely going to be the last. After that I will be doing single person breaks only until out of stock of all products. All other payment options I have investigated are too pricey ($0.25 transaction fee may not sound like a lot, but it is on a $1.00 team). I will be shipping out all cards this week and will continue to do so until everything is out.
Let me know if you would like anything. I will be reducing pricing as soon as I get around to it and until they are all sold out.

Yeah, doesn't sound good.... Doesn't really sound viable for him to continue in his curent form... You'd think case breaks and larger multi box breaks would still be worth doing through another payment gateway though, but they don't seem to have been his bread and butter....

If Al shuts up shop altogether we'll need to find alternatives to feed the addiction. Crazy8 is still going, there's also Kidders and I did find another break site via Twitter today- Friendly Box Breaks, have shot them an email asking about OS shipping...

Why does it always seem that when you find something that works and everyone's happy with it, someone else sees fit to ruin it ?
 
Hopefully he will continue in some format. I have been doing a couple of Ebay breaks witha guy in Canada, he breaks same day as auction so no waiting but only ships the Hits for free. Picked up the Ravens and the Rams in a Totally Certified earlier today for $6.25 total so not too bad.

Obviously being Canadian he does a fair bit of hockey!!

Have come across the Friendly site in the past too but haven't tried them yet, Kiddercards is OK but not a lot of product and almost every break is a random, which we know can be a charm or a curse!!

Will keep looking but in the meantime hope Al can sort something out:ermm:
