I'm not 100% sure how the players salaries work in the NRL, but in the NFL they have veteran "minimum" amounts a player can be signed for. Could they enforce that if he were to sign with another team he could only be paid the minimum amount? Or half of his salary is forfeited to the Raiders for the remiander of what would have been the length of his previous Raiders Contract?

Its basically at the discretion of the Salary Cap auditor.

He was on $600,000 a year so if another team signs him for $100,000 a year in theory the auditor would refuse to register the contract.

PENRITH star Lachlan Coote is facing a season on the sidelines after being ordered to undergo immediate surgery for a pectoral tear suffered in yesterday’s loss to Wests Tigers.

While the club was initially hopeful Coote might only miss six weeks, further tests have revealed the tear is worse than originally thought.

No Telegraph or Herald Sun NRL or AFL this year!!!!
Got this from a very reliable source. I have been told that ESP have an exclusive licence with the NRL & they produce ALL nrl cards for 5 years. As for News Ltd they have new management who choose to drop the footy cards for now. :(

YES exclusive licence. They are committed to paying an agreed amount for the 5 years even if they stop producing NRL cards today they still will owe the agreed $$$ they signed in the contract.

Its a shame they are not doing the cards, whether you like them or not, the kids love them, they dont care about quality and at $2 a pack, affordable for parents, they get the whole set and an album for less than $40

I agree hate them or love them the kids always enjoyed them.
