Just wondering, when paying with Paypal why do some payments go through straight away while some are shown as "pending"?? (Taking up to 4 days to clear??)
If you pay out of your bank account without credit card backup, payments go pending till the payment gets taken out of your account. I think its also called an e-cheque in PayPal language.
If you have credit card backup, all payments go straight through if you have the payment coming from a bank account.
I have another possibility.
Because I convert all my payments into US$, when someone pays me I have to "Accept" or "Refuse" the payment. Until I hit accept the payment is "Pending".

If you dont have enough funds in your paypal acct, You have 3 Funding Options. (you can access this by clicking on the "Change" under Payment Methods when you are making the payment)
These are your 3 Funding Options:
1. Instant Bank Transfer:Westpac Savings (Confirmed)
2. eCheque:Westpac Savings (Confirmed) This is the one that makes it slower!
3. Credit / Debit Card:MasterCard Card Back Up Funding Source
If you select Instant Transfer and your financial institution refuses this transfer from your bank account, or the payment cannot be completed using the funding source you selected, you agree to complete the purchase using the following backup funding source.
I normally choose option 1 or 3. Option 2 usually takes 3-4 working days to clear. Option 1 or 3 will go through straight away.
