Anyone Want To Do A Submission to PSA ?

Hey guys, I'm looking to do a submission to PSA (sending it off next Friday). As I am allowed to submit for friends, if any of you want to submit a couple of cards.

Heres the rules :

This special is valid for Sports & Non Sports Cards at $13 each for cards valued under $500. The turnaround time is approximately 5 business days. Tallboys, Coins & Pins are permitted on this special. This special excludes Supersized Cards, T-3's and Autographed Cards dated 1997 or earlier.

Turnaround once received at PSA - 5 Business Days (approximately)

Cost per card for grading once you factor in shipping there, grading costs, shipping back and shipping to you is approx $21 AUD PER CARD. This particular deal isn't that cheap (the normal $5 US deal works out at about $11 AUD per card, but you wait much longer for the cards to return).This is a the special that is best to submit older cards on (1976 or earlier) or more expensive cards that you don't want away for any extended period (eg I'm sending away some 1/1's).

REMEMBER - PSA are now grading thicker cards, so Ultimate Collection patches, Trilogy Auto Focus, Exquisite (!) can now be graded by PSA.

PSA now grade any of the thicker cards. They also do grade Auto'd cards, but they don't give a separate grade to the Auto like BGS.

And no - you won't be able to send in cards already graded for crossover from another grading company (eg BGS to PSA). It is possible to do it, but you need to submit these on their own form and pay the seperate shipping costs. I may do a crossover submission at some stage in the future.

I posted this a while back about checking cards before sending - it's at least a guide as to whether it's worthwhile sending a particular card.

There are a few main areas of the card to check first - corners and edges. For a PSA 9, these have to be almost perfect, with no chipping on the edges and the corners have to be 4 sharp corners with no dings. For a dark card, this means no white corner dings showing. If you can hold the card at arms length and see chipping or white corners, forget about it!

You then move onto centering if the card has a border. PSA have published standards on this, but without getting out a ruler, I look at the card and if it looks pretty well centred then I figure it's got a chance of PSA 9. If it's pretty obvious from just looking at it, the card is off centre, then you probably won't get over an 8. I've had few cards that have had great corners and edges, but centering has killed them.

The last thing is surface. This includes scratches, dents, residue etc on the surface of the cards. Sometimes, a soft lens cloth is your friend to clean the surface of any dust etc which may be on there.

Well i've submitted almost 150 cards to them without a problem. I've never heard of anyone else having problems with them either.

Sure thing. They have 3 service levels

a) Bending The Cards - pretty self explanatory. On this level, you submit your cards and they will bend them, slab them and then deny all knowledge.

b) Trimmers Delight - aka Jenny Craig for cards submission level. If you think your card is carrying too much weight (or has a dodgy corner or two), just trim the the card to within card size specifications and submit. Watch those 8's and 8.5's jump to 9.5's fast!

c) The 100 Level - submit any card you like, slip a $100 note in the grading package and nominate your own grades! Nothing quite like it.

Which one will it be?

Well its just me and Mavs - cards are all packaged up (with some Mech errors - where there is a PSA error on the card) and they will go to PSA tomorrow! I'll put up another thread with scans of the cards going out and of course, coming back!
