How credible is the "Thurston to Penrith" rumour?

Not very would be my guess.
He has officially met with the Bulldogs and Brisbane and I have not read anything about Penrith apart from rumours. Given he is also about to become a dad and how tight knit they are up in Townsville I doubt he will go anywhere.

Only going from what I've read elsewhere, but the apparent "hook" of the Panthers' bid is a position post-football of Thurston running/well-paid to be involved in some halfbacks academy being set up by Penrith.

I'd be a lot more excited if he was 2-3 years younger, but at this point anything that brings an end to the Luke "5th tackle bomb" Walsh strategy would be a step in a more interesting direction.
