Ok, so I bought a tinnie on e-bay which I won on Monday morning for what I thought was a steal of $630AU, no motor or anything, but it looks like a solid boat... Anyway, before the auction ended, I called the seller and asked him if there was any rust, structural damage, or anything else of concern to a potential buyer. He says "no, it's all sweet..." So I arrange to pick it up on Wednesday at Burpengary, almost an hour drive each way, and again he says: "no worries, come up and we'll sort it all out." I'm wondering what is there to sort out, I give you the cash, you give me the boat... Then when I go there and we're face-to-face, he tells me all I have to do is transfer the rego to my name, simple enough. So when I ask him why he hasn't de-registered it already, he says he hasn't because the boat's not in his name! Apparently, he's bought it off someone else (I'm led to believe...), who in turn supposedly bought it off the guy who's name it's still registered in. So I ask where the guy who it's registered to lives so I can verify it, and he says he's got no idea. I mean, for all I know it COULD be completely legit, but how can you sell a vehicle that's registered to someone you've never even MET, is my concern... So I told the guy once he's de-registered it, I'll take ownership of it, and for him to give me a call when that's done. So now I just gotta wait, basicly. As far as I'm concerned, I'm happy to keep my money and him keep his boat, but I'm worried if he kicks up a stink and negs me, e-bay might support him... Any thoughts or suggestions?
