2012/13 Australian Cricket (*SPOILERS*)

Both teams having problems with no balls resulting in not outs. I also find it a bit unfair that South Africa didn't lose a referral when they used one and it showed a no ball...surely that means not out and one referral used up...it is the bowler's fault.

Hopefully Cowan can get a good score and a couple of good innings and establish his spot in the team. Nice to see him scoring at a good strike rate too.

cricket my friend is a team sport and who has runs on board to take pontings place? what would your team be as it looks like you want to replace the whole side, you have only had a go at half the side!!!

I am worried about Punter - if he has another low score in the second innings, the vultures will circle. This of course is a bloke with 41 Test centuries and 13,000+ runs (mostly from No. 3) and who belongs in the bracket of top five Australian batsmen in Test history. The media will turn, the mug punter who is not fit to tie Ricky's shoelaces will turn.....the poor bastard was almost hounded from the game before his "Indian Summer" last season and there is no doubt that he is being lined up again.

It is a team sport...which requires individuals to perform well. I wouldn't want to replace the whole team. I would get rid of Warner, Ponting and at least one of Siddle/Hilfenhaus. The rest of the team i would leave as it is. Cowan deserves until the end of the series to prove himself. Clarke has proved himself to be a great captain and has gotten the Aussies out of some terrible batting collapses over the past couple of years and Hussey can be useful for similar situations batting down the order.

I don't know if Quiney was the best choice as a replacement but i would give him time to prove himself. Watson is going to come back sometime and replace someone anyway. Ponting has been getting no runs so there is no harm in trying someone else in his place. Khawaja has started the season with three half centuries and now 138 for the Bulls this weekend, he's worthy of a call up.

Lyon can be useful as a somewhat decent spinner, Pattison should stay as he has a good record so far and is only going to get better and i think Starc should get a run in place of Siddle or Hilfenhaus which would add a bit more youth and enthusiasm while at the same time giving him good experience.

Ponting deserves respect for his great career but he has to realise he's going to have to retire soon if he keeps getting low scores, otherwise he's just going to have to be dropped. Rather than hang on and tarnish a great career perhaps he should go out with his head held high.

Quiney was looking quite solid in his debut and was quite unlucky to pick the fielder with that great hook shot. He is a bit taller than the majority of batsmen and would have handled the SA quicks well.

Our biggest issues has been not bowling enough good balls to build pressure and / or make SA batsmen play. When Kallis and Amla were going at it they were able to leave 3-4 balls per over if they wanted however the SA quicks seemed to make us play a shot alot more.

Just my thoughts!

khawaja has to prove himself over a couple of seasons a couple of good scores dosnt mean you should get a baggy green,i think quiney is ahead of him at the moment and watson will probably take his spot unless they drop warner

Agreed about the bowling, really need to make them play at the ball. I think our main problem with the batting is we need a pair of solid openers who can score 80-100 consistently.

True they should earn the baggy green, but players like Warner really haven't...and even the biggest Ponting fan has to agree that he needs to go soon if he doesn't make any runs. If he's not making any then there is no harm giving a younger guy a go.

I think a top 5 of Warner, Cowan, Quiney, Clarke and Watson is what we will see when Punter and Huss either retire or are dropped - I think No. 6 will be a "lucky dip" position based on what is needed at the time. To that end, someone like Dan Christian could be very important in the future, he would be an extremely handy reverse swing bowler if Watto's bowling workload is reduced.

Nice one Greg Ritchie - http://news.ninemsn.com.au/national...r-australian-cricketer-accused-of-racial-slur

Even sadder that it says he got a lot of laughs from the crowd for his racist remarks.
It wasnt even racist, gee some people are uptight, too many politically correct do-gooders if you ask me.

what a knob greg ritchie!!!
Did you read it mate? He said it was a joke he had said 500 times without a drama, until the time as one person gets offended then all of a sudden he's a bad guy. Personally i think the world has gone mad with people getting offended over everything these days. I dont have a problem at all with what he said.

Cowan and Clarke guide the Aussies to a respectable score. 100 each, go boys. Our best chance is a draw in this test and re-group for the next.

Amazing........I get home from work to discover that the sky HASN'T fallen in on Australian cricket:-) Some people in the media need to engage their brain before opening their mouth. This is the very best of Australian batsmanship.......I thought it was only easy last season because India were pie throwers?

Clarkey you legend, great captain's knock to help save us again. Great knock for Cowan too who has now proven being worthy of his selection. And Hussey is doing his usual lower order knock :)

"Just this morning I had to try and stop three little muslim boys trying to break the lock on my car boot. "I had to say, ‘Shut up! You’re in there for a reason!'." "his use of the term "kaffir", which is considered a derogatory description of black people in South Africa"

I'm not one for political correctness but the first comment seems to imply there is something bad about Muslim people and the second is a racist term. Even if he meant no harm he should have known better than to say those things. I'm not surprised people found it funny, hell of a lot of racist people in this country...
