im the type that buys them 2 years later for $29 and save my money for a game worn piece of the auctions store or something along the lines
Rumour is some clubs will have 2 different jerseys per game next season. The right to left of screen jersey and the left to right of screen jersey. Different sponsors too. Home and Away...so minimum 4 jerseys just there.
And I wouldn't pay $180 when I can get em bargain basement in 2 years time. And don't get me started on kids jerseys. Official club jerseys $80-$100 for a 3 year old kid. Ha! Best & Less do the cheapo versions, but they also do the old cotton style, with a collar. Bought em for $20 each.
But some clubs have more jerseys than years in the actual comp. And sox. FMD.
The NRL actually were doing polls to see how many people wanted, cause I think mum's and dad's start to get a bit PO with the changes week in week out. I remember hearing Rabbits Warren lamenting the change week in and week out saying the same.
And don't get me wrong - don't mind the idea behind the Indigenous round and the Women In League pink jerseys but I won't buy them. But then you have ANZAC Day jerseys now, and those God-awful product tie in jerseys like Bulldogs / Avatar a few years ago. If they want themed weekends, it needs to be uniform through the comp for
all clubs on that themed weekend and not a hodge podge. Don't really care about Heritage round as Souths basically have worn the same jersey for 100 years.
What sticks in my craw is that blue Newtown Jets Nth Qld 'heritage' jersey. Sorry...wear the 1995 jersey. I am sure people can tell me that the blue Cowboys jersey is special, but as I know a lot of old Bluebaggers who every year decry the theft of their jersey/colours when Nth Qld never wore it in ARL/SL/NRL era...
And while I'm moaning - Wests Tigers...stop wearing Tour De France jerseys. Go with the black and orange/gold hoop or orange / black V for HOME and Black and white hoops OR black and white V for away. Those colours are so distinctive...esp the Tigers orange.
And while I'm still moaning, the Warriors throwing in the RED this season, especially on the White with black V, from a distance I had even my 3 year old tell me the Roosters were playing. Yep...
For mine, each team should have their home jersey. If they wish to use that away, then so be it. If they must have an away jersey fine. But I remember Souths having to wear their white 'clash' alternate jersey down in Canberra and Canberra went and wore a predominantly grey jersey with thin lime piping. It just made a mockery of the whole thing.
But back to the Warriors, am disappointed they seem to have got rid of that pink pregnancy testing kit jersey they had this season. Tis a pity.
