Ha ha, here's something for ya!

I found a Harris card on ebay. #34/499. Has a BIN of $29.88USD with Best Offers.

I submitted $5.00, a price I think is fair and resonable, given the card, the player, and the market rate.

I've just received a counter-offer of $15.00. I nearly spilt my drink at my desk when I saw it, I mean, I just picked up this sweet patch card #34/35 for $12 buckets.

Was it rude of me to 1.) offer $5.00 to begin with, and 2.) decline their counter-offer and suggest they were over-inflating the card because it's jersey numbered, and then show them said sweet patch card above?? Oh yeah, for those that matter, the card has a BV of $6 buckleys.

Now I don't claim to be an expert on Harris cards, never will be, but I've got a FAIRLY good idea on what stuff usually goes for, and this one was a cracker!!

Just wondering if this is how things are "usually" done on ebay, ha ha ha.

WOW, 23 offers! I don't know much about the value on that one (or the player), but sounds like the seller simply wants more and more, or $50 like you said from that Counter offer.

Yeah I contemplated the offer before sending my decline offer notice, I mean a card that is usually a $5 card, MAYBE $8-$10, turns into a $20 card when postage is factored, I can't justify it.

IF it were #005/499, now that becomes another issue, lol.

GL with the Deon Butler!!

Yeah, not rude at all. If anything, I would have countered him back a few bucks higher and a note saying that it is as high as you're willing to go. If he accepts it, great. If not, he can let it sit in his inventory for a few more years before running on eBay and sending it to you for $0.99. I find patience is key when it comes to PCs

the card books at 6 you paid double for a jersey numbered....yeah thats about the standard but its devin harris so i wouldnt think that would apply, i think 10 would be a reasonable offer so you might have overpaid?

Yeah Woobz, ur pretty much just an asshole really :p

That's why there is a 'Make an Offer' option ay? So that sellers can list an item and listen to offers and then negotiate. Not rude at all to offer a price for a card when there is plenty of evidence that you could buy another copy off eBay when a new listing comes up.. Too much value placed on jersey #'d for my liking too. The rude thing really is him expecting legal currency for a Harris.

When I list BIN items, I usually put up a price that is about 25% more than the eBay average and then accept any offers that are close enough to half of that price. So if someone offered me 1/6th of my listing price, I'd still be very much considering that offer. If it's listed I don't want it, hopefully someone else will.

So many knobs on eBay I'd hardly worry about reputation there for any reason at all, coz at worst you'll just end up fitting in.

It wasn't rude at all, after all that's why the best offer option is there to get the ball rolling but unfortunately people will use the old eBay #1/1 tag to bump the price up, I've found if you hold strong and don't give in to the seller they will eventually give in.

It's a good idea not to mention that you collect Harris cards.

Yes that is rude I get them doing the same thing with me on eBay so I dont even respond I just put them on the ban list asking starting your offer at25% below then counter offers go from their given them a offer of about 17.5% of their sale price is rude.

Scotty is talking about making a $5 offer on a $6 card, it's not worth $30.

Business must be booming for you, putting people on a ban list is a bit over the top but if it works for you then go with it.
