Glad this wasnt on here!!

not acceptable i think a few guys on here missed the point..its not that he paid $5.50, its that his $5.50 didnt warrant such a pathetic attempt to save dollars. if it had a toploader or bubble then he wouldnt care. they'll come back with the "handling" excuse. I paid $8 for a $2 pippen years ago. questioned him before i paid and he said quote "my post office is very busy and i have to stand in line and sometimes it can take 15-20 minutes" he said that because he was making an exception to ship to me in australia i should be charged for the time it takes to send it cos normally he would just flip his red flag and get it posted out. I paid the $8 got the card and negged him. he negged me back though....should have waited till he feedbacked me first hahaha

That one deserves a Neg.

Why? From your perspective he agreed to pay the $55 shipping so as long as he got it ok then it's all cool!?

As you may be able to tell, that's complete BS lol...... you are paying people for POSTAGE, even if you agree to pay them $6 for postage and you get the card ok doesn't make it right. You are SUPPLYING them with good money so your card can be sent safely, not to line their pockets with money to make up for fees, fuel, icecreams and what have you :p

If you want to charge a surcharge for silly things, then make this clear in the description so people know before they bid.

My perspective doesnt include "using postage to cover loss of profit."

That always bugs me when I pay $5-6 in shipping for a card from overseas and it comes in a PWE. Even worse is when I pay $4 in the US for shipping and it comes in a PWE. That will get you negative feedback every time.

As a seller, I calculate my shipping costs into the overall cost of the card. E.G., if the card sells for $5-6, I put it up as $1.99+$3 domestic or +$5 for International buyers. I never skimp on the shipping, I buy new, plastic bubble mailers so they are almost impossible to scam (the glue is so tough you have to destroy the envelope to open it) and they are protected from most elements. Waiting in line at the PO is a great time to get some reading done.

Some people just approach the game the wrong way. What goes around comes around.

Yeah I think this has ran it's course, the intention was to share with you an experience of receiving a white envelope with $1.80 (Canadian) worth of stamps, after being charged $5.50.

Just some points here;

* Issue was not the fee for postage, it was the method used, that being a paper envelope
* I've no issues paying $5 or $10, etc for postage on cards, I will question some postage charges if I feel they're too high, in this case, $5.50 is not too high
* I HATE, with a passion the use of white envelopes
* I HATE, when people try to claim costs for "handling" when they post something off. 99.99/100 times they're already driving to or by the PO - Ebay shouldnt be a business to generate income from postage fees
* Re: the petrol claims, if I walk to the Post Office, do I claim a fee for wear and tear on my shoes? Pfft, give me a break!!!

Lastly, and more importantly,

* The seller was nice enough to refund me the difference, or there abouts, so I'm cool with how they handled their end after a nice PM.
