So after accidentally bidding on 2 Barkley cards the other week (thought I needed them, and didnt), I chose to grab another, which I wasnt TOO sure if I needed or not, but made it 3 cards in total.

I was the only one to bid, and won the three for $2.37 Canadian $.

Postage was $5.50.

This is what I got:

The cards arrived fine, doesnt look to be any damage on them, at least from the post.

I've contacted the seller and informed them of my dis-satisfaction, and claimed they have covered their costs for cheap cards on the postage costs.

We'll see if I get a response. I'm sure I will, as I'm yet to leave feedback.

Keep the email where they admitted that they are using the postage to make up for cheap cards. It is in eBay policy that you aren't meant to profit from shipping I believe! ;)

Not certain, but have heard it before!

The seller hasn't replied and didn't admit to it...the buyer said that he claimed the seller was doing so

Unfortunately, even if you report it to ebay, they won't do anything about it. I tried once when I was Charged $10 for something when the package came the stamps added upto $2.50. I complained to the seller and to ebay. Both responded the same way.
Shipping and Handling.

/\/\ 'Handling cost: This must be limited to the reasonable costs for selecting and preparing the item for shipping and must not be excessive or unnecessary.' (from e-bay)
now with cards the only 'preparing' cost would be for a penny sleeve & toploader. not even $1...
this guy mustve charged for fuel to the post.

If i sell 1-2 cards i ask my buyer if he/she minds if i ship PWE just to save me a little extra $$$ on postage and time such as filling out customs forums if selling internationally.Bubble mailers,Package tape, card holders and team bags aswell as gas money to get to the post office can all add up.I would not sweat it too much man.But that being said the seller should not charge more for shipping without explaining his/her reasoning!I buy from a fellow in hong kong (high end deals) he always ships PWE with little protection for the cards but amazingly after about 4 seperate deals have never had an issue with protection so it's really not a concern for me.I really don't know why PWE bugs buyers so much!? aslong as what i pay for arrives to me safely i have no issues with it.I was once shipped a card in a big bubble mailer and someone from the USPS had bent mailer all to hell and it bent through and cracked the top loader destroying the card! so honestly the smaller package the safer and it all depends on how the seller prepares the mail.I package my PWE extremely secure with penny sleeve, top loader, team bag, tape, paper, then tape the envelope to secure it shut aswell as taping over the address's to protect them!

costs me about $2 to get to my post office and back,Fuel is very expensive here in the states

So it makes it ok for me to charge $50 for postage in a white envelope if I live out in the country and the nearest post office is 100kms away?

Fuel isn't part of the postage cost, that was my point.

And how and why in the world would you try to work out fuel costs to go to the post office?

easy buddy relax... where did i say i agree with what the seller charged for his shipping rate? Just mentioned that other factors due indeed factor into shipment costs that some people may overlook.Like i said i ship all of my cards for free even internationally!

no prob bud! thanks for clearing that up haha,Yeah i enjoy helping collectors while making a little money..i am not a seller who has to "hit a homerun" on every sale ya know? Free shipping does keep the sellers comming back and since i buy a lot of singles i recycle my bubble mailers so thats saves me a lot of money right there! A lot of sellers on the bay jack the shipping up i think to cover some of the fees costs aswell...remember the BIN items for $1 and Shipping was $199.00? haha Ebay kind of put a stop to that now that they include shipping into the 9% final fee.

When you get buyers coming back, at least you know who they are and are more than unlikely to xuase you probs, suchs as chargebacks etc...

for sure i'd much rather sell for good deals to good people here on the forums than to sell to sneaky unknown people on ebay who attempt scams..last card i sold on ebay someone tried to say it was semi damaged and was hinting towards a partial refund until i told him don't even think about it haha

If you were unhappy about $5.50 for postage then dont bid!! Need a new hobby if this peeves you off as their are way more worse things then getting cheaped out on postage by $2.... We all know to include postage in the price of cards as sometimes ppl do use postage to up their end value!
