so im going to apolagize in advance as this will probably be a bit long winded...but i need to vent.

So Sep-OCT 2010 i bought a product, im not going to name names but im sure it would be blatantly obvious. when i opened the product up something was missing, and in its place was an IOU or maybe a redemption if you will. so i filled out the redemption that same day on there website. and left it at that.

about 4 months go by and nothing has happened so i request a replacement. no response. a few more months go by and i go back online and check the status, its marked closed and posted...ok i havent seen anything yet....i leave it a few more weeks and its now becoming obvious that if it was going to arrive, it would have arrived by now.

I Contact the company, i let them know they have marked it posted as of 2 months ago (approx, i cant recall the exact timeline) and i had not received it. they told me they would send some sort of affidavit, i had to sign to legally say i had not received it. Ok well that doesn't worry me as im telling the truth so i say fine, please send the documents.

Months go by...nothing, im thinking ok, was this whole affidavit thing a scare tactic? to weed out the shit talkers? or had they sent that too and nothing had arrived?

some more time goes by and i hear the company has got a new customer relations or something person, with a direct email. so i thought hey cant hurt, ill shoot him an email and let him know the whole situation so far. i get an immidiate response which was pleasing and basically apolagized and said he would get out a replacement ASAP. no mention of any affidavit. Great!! thats a good outcome!

months go by.....nothing.....i email him again, ask politely if they were going to send a replacement? they tell me they have, months ago. Well i have not received that either.
I explain to him the i have checked my address details on there website, and everything is correct. i have had not one other case of anything at all going missing coming to my address, this company had even sent another pending redemption in this time to me with no hassles. so why is this one redemption not arriving??

I also expressed my concerns, as i had another redemption pending, one that was worth quite a bit more money then the other one, and with this track record i was extremely concerned that this one might go missing too which would be heartbreaking, they assured me that the more expensive redemptions get sent by UPS or something.

So i ask him what are we going to do about this current situation?

That was over a month ago and i have been treated to silence ever since, which is not usual as that guy had replied to all my other emails within hours.

what do i do? i mean this is becoming less about the redemption and more about the principle of the matter. i bought a product off them back around OCT 2010, it is now SEP 12 and they are yet to provide me with what i had paid for.

lets put the foot on the other shoe with something we can all relate to. say i sold something on ebay. and they buyer claims it never arrived, what do i do? i either re-send another item, or refund the money. that is my ONLY 2 choices. Say i re-send the item, Buyer says nope...still didnt arrive. no matter how dodgy the situation looks, how much i doubt that buyer, my 2 options are still the same. Re-send again or refund my money. if they buyer never gets the item my hand is forced to be out of pocket and refund them. it may seem somewhat unfair, but thats just how it is.

Why is this company allowed to just give me the silent treatment? the redmption is not that big of a deal, but its the point to the matter, i want what i paid for. sure they might be looking at me thinking im trying to pull one over them. but hey, how do i know they even sent it? theres no proof. no tracking numbers, nothing. the only fact that matters here is i paid for something in 2010, and as of 2012 i have nothing but the silent treatment.

feels good to get that off my chest, thank you if you actually read all of that, any input is welcome.

To be honest, I read 'most' of it, but enough to know what is happening!

Who are you emailing? And at which email? If you don't have a 'direct' email for the people in the know over there, shoot me a pm and I will lyk!

Tbh I just looked over my email correspondents and realized they have beer signed there name so not sure, buts it's an email I got off this site and reccomended to speak to for redemption problem solving.

I'd keep emailing them. Maybe make up one email, save it as a draft, and keep sending it every day until you get a response and a tracking number. Have you seen this card live on eBay or on boards in the mean time?

Shaun its frustrating I know . I think I know the person you are talking about I can email him of you want, send me the details.

I have the same problem with Topps Over UFC cards. Locked me out of my account due to redemption code being wrong. I've emailed them a few times and not even one response. 3 weeks and still can't redeem my UFC cards.

I'd say welcome to card collecting in the 2010s... I'd say either get used to it as it will only get worse or start buying singles...

Bullshit! Sorry, but it's a load of crap and a big reason my I won't be busting anything remotely high end ever again.

I know what your saying Brent, and I get the reasons behind you saying it but really....? Lets all just roll over and accept it and let multi million dollar companies get away with what is basically fraud?!? Nope! Load of crap, they need to be held accountable in some way or another... If we just let them get away with not a. Corresponding to their customers b. Not delivering what was PROMISED/BOUGHT and c. Dictating how a "Bought or Sold" product should be distributed then they will do as they please with everything in the hobby and that is straight up bullshit! I personally don't bust a heap of product, but I have kept on one company in particular time and time again to make sure I get what I'm supposed to, not what they deem "Ok".. No matter how bi or small the product/card is..... It's a joke, and considering it is so widely accepted that if people don't get PROMISED card or something of same value they just write it off as being a scrub and not worth the time and effort, times this by 1000's and look at the money these companies get for NOTHING!

This is another reason why I am seriously considering walking away from the Hobby all together and just saying FK IT! Letting the companies get away with fraud is complete and utter crap!

I get your angle Ian

But why is it fraud?

They disclose that there will be redemptions and five you the option to replace them in the allotted time! People are taking the risk when they bust a box. At the end of the day, you would be just as unhappy with a live scrub in the box instead on the redemption.

I think there are a lot of behind the scenes thing that cause redemption delays than we give them credit for, like players not returning cards, or damage etc

It just makes no sense why a company would rather have pending redemptions which cause them to spend time and money with the follow ups??? Why wouldn't that just send them?

The fraud comment/claim was more towards Shaun's issue of not getting anything at all and then getting shrugged off!

I just want to thank everyone for there comments and advice, I got some really good advice from an anonymous member, which I'm very appreciative of, so I'm making one last effort to get this situation made right. I'll let you all know if I was successful or not.
:)

Threaten them with the ombudsmen. Threaten to pay out on them on forums and you will reccomend people not to buy their product. Sounds like it is time to get nasty, 2 years is a joke. The hobby has become a bit of a joke.
