Ray Price with the Cumberland throw was probably the original pioneer, although he could tackle as well.
I'm pretty sure it was a Pommy player that joined the Eels in the mid 60's that introduced the Cumberland throw to Parramatta in 5/8 Ivor Lingard, features in the Scanlens cards from that era
