Decided I needed to have a few shots at the local College (Claremont for those familiar with Tassie).

Anyways as we (Danni & I) were walking around the corner to the courts, we could hear people already there.

I saw 3 guys shooting around on the far end of the main court, so stayed at the closer end (the better end).

Danni takes a seat, and I start to shoot (and NOTHING was dropping).

Next thing I know the other 3 guys are coming up and asking if I wanted to run 2 on 2. Sure what the heck, I could use the excercise.

Anyways, was a good game we won 21-6. None of my shots were falling, I have no idea why, probably cos I was left alone so many times, and couldnt be arsed driving the lane.

But on the one occasion I tried to drive the lane, this guy trys to take a charge (WTF - it's streetbal, lol), anyways, as I drove around him, I clipped his knee. And man have I got a corker!!! That's the CON.

The Pro. Well you read about the Win already. lol.
Nah, had a decent block on the biggest guy there, so that's my Pro!

Went back to shooting on my own after the game (they said they had to go).

Still couldnt hit nothing.

Went 10-10 from the stripe, canned 50%, what a shocker!

Then 40% from 3 point land. Thought that was a bonus!!

Went again, and made first 6 shots from the line, then missed the next 4. Damn... NOT GOOD.

Decided to TRY and work on my shooting for three's...... Didnt try for long, my leg was starting to stiffen up real bad. I ended up hitting 2, then nothing, then another, then nothing, then nothing, then another 2, then nothing and again nothing. So 50% was ok for me.

Just thought I'd share my afternoon.

I love pickup games, Play "FOOTsketball" and anyone you hurt you dont know ;)

Hmm, no wonder i foul out nearly every game i play

One thing I will never do. Take a charge off Mavsman ;-)

Streetball is for people that cant remember plays :-D Good with mates you know but others.... I always had an X on me and the local hero wanting to show me up and that takes the fun out of it.

Did Danni have pom poms on the sideline?? Thats hot :-D

No pom-poms bud....

What gets me about playing in the parks, etc, is that everyone is all about individuality. No one likes to get an assist, or set a pick, etc.

Au contraire Scotty, the thing I love about street ball games is that you get to go out and try to play like the Harlem Globetrotters. I had a mate through high school and uni and when we'd play pick-up games we'd fight over who would get the assist and just try and pull no look passes out of our arses. I haven't played in so long. I reckon if the group meet-up happens we have to get a game going!

yeah I used to rule Claremont College! It was in the days of 'no gym' meaning no indoor courts! ;) used to be about 20 of us who wagged classes all day and just play hard ball until we had no petrol left! The young punks these days just hide in the gym and are total pushovers! Hence why we went from one of the best colleges to one of the worst going around now lol Or they go to classes which is better :)

i always enjoyed playing street ball..me and my mate would go down every weekend, and play for about 4 hours straight, taking on everyone. Was
pretty cool being 15 and whooping 20+ year olds...Ive gotta get back down there though, Ive noticed that while Im way consistent in the three balls in real games, everything else sucks...gotta get used to driving the lanes with recklessness on concrete again!

Anyone in Melbourne up for some pickup games on a Sunday?

Me and a couple of the old guys I used to play with have access to a full size indoor court in Kensington as of the new year and are looking at running pick up games for a few hours every week. If you're interested, PM me, as we want some good numbers down there to attract some decent (not good... we don't want to be embarrassed!) players to have a bit of a run.

Nah Scotty, even Streetball you play defence. ;-) I know I would. I wouldn't play full in your face defence, but play a loose hang off defence. But then again, I'm generally guarding the paint, so I'm looking for the block, pushing my man out of the paint, or a strip if he's dribbling the ball in.

Ahh, love the paint work. Not being a fast mover myself, I love to hussle inside, and try to work some (little) muscle.

Damn I felt like shooting again tonight, but alas, my leg is half rooted right now.

I now know what the NBA dudes go thru when they're sidelined for a week cos of a "bruised thigh".
