I noticed on ebay that a black league leader cameron smith sold for $650 after initially asking $800 and is numbered #009 of 50 (same as his jersey) and i'm just interested to know as a relatively new collector is this sort of mark up common practice for LE numbered inserts? How much more is a card worth on the buyers market if number relevant? Double? Triple?

all comes down to whether the collectors are after that card for example i try to collect ALL titans cards so a players number card eg scott prince league leader gold or black 007 would be appealing for me but im not going to put that much extra into making sure i get these cards where as someone may really want too. all it takes is two people that really want a certain numbered card to push the price up seems to happen with dragons cards a lot simply because there is a lot of dragons supporters/collectors

Ben Hornby Jersey numbered gold LL is up on eBay now.

Digeze has the Jersey numbered Rein TP - will fetch a good price if he decides to sell :)

I agree, i love chasing the numbers but there is a limit to which i will go. But it is really a personal thing some want them some could give 2 hoots as to what number there card is.

So there is really no definitive answer, it all comes down to personal preference. I guess like most things in this world it comes down to right place right time, that gidley 006 might have sold for double that on another day, and the cam smith half of what it fetched. I was more interested in seeing if the general market viewed numbered cards as more valuable, scenario, your a normal punter, not at all fussed by what # is on the card, would you go into a bidding war for a card you really want knowing you may have to pay 10% or more extra because of the number even though its irrelevant to you, but you accept its place in the market?

if i could get the scott prince gold for example for 60 for a random number or say 90 for the number 7 i would pay the extra but not double or triple

Im pretty sure someone here got the 2011 strike St George Predictor 002.. And sold it for $800...

Jersey numbers and low numbers don't phase me....... Some people go mental over them...... Hence the reason the few that I do own that are 002.... Aren't generally known.......

I just recently picked up a Thurston Captain Card 004...... Which is awesome....... But the number means nothing to me.... I'd have been happy with 050!

I scored a luke lewis 29 of 50 black card and a gold terry campese.

I would be more then happy to pay a bit extra for a card numbered the same as the players jersey # and if I hit one in a bust I would be over the moon :)

I got the Dragons Premiership Redemption thing, got number 031. happened to be 31 years since the last premiership, I was VERY happy with this one! :)

There is abit of a industry "guideliine", I think Footystars etc have published. The jersey number can fetch +50% to +100%,Very dependant on market/player(If its a St George player, Hobo would say, rightly so}, Number two scaling back from +50% to number20 at +35% onto above number 50 at +0%. Birthdays, grandfinal year etc attract interest ie the 2003 Provan/Summons Signature card. Like the above have said sometimes the interest is not there, but you will see a lot of low numbers in the mailday...go figure that one out. If any lowballers start at me, remember i set the bait and your hitting the hook.;)
