Appreciating game used

My only issue with that card, as with most of Panini's stuff the guarantee is so vague "the enclosed material is guaranteed by Panini America, Inc" for all we know it could be from a Nuggets jersey.

Very valid point, and that's the biggest beef with the industry thesedays - however it'd have to be a pretty damn old Nuggets patch - you can see the age on this piece, it's AWESOME.
Partly why I love the Wilt patch that's part of the Ultimate Quad (currently listed on ebay by my mate...) - just seeing the age/wear on it is really cool.

Just looking at the patch you can tell it's not from a Nuggets jersey, the Nuggets changed to Baby Blue & Yellow in 2003 and the patch is clearly older than that. I was just making a point lol

But it especially bothers me with GU cards with white swatches and not to mention the All-Star GU's from Season Update with Black swatches. Not one piece of those All-Star jerseys are black, where is the swatch from?

You know, I really DO appreciate the REAL Game Used cards, but the problem for me, is that you REALLY don't know if it IS Game Used. They might be pieces from a backup jersey, or might be from a player who didnt actually play, but stuck the item on. You know.

I can't remember which cards they were, but there was a card set released that game-dated the piece on the back of the card. THAT my friends is what we need back in this hobby.

Panini's vagueness about the authenticity of the jersey doesn't help things; so people wonder "is it really game used", "was it really worn by the player pictured on the card" etc..

My thoughts exactly, this is the only issue I have with the new jersey/patch cards.

I'd like to hear what Panini have to say about this out of curiosity and maybe give us a behind the scenes look.

I've got some UD Patch cards of Dev Harris that I SWEAR were from a Finley Jersey! It certainly does raise concerns when the products we buy aren't REALLY what we're told they are.

It's like buying a Ford with a Holden motor...

I have kind of always found the game used cards to be kind of sketchy. Especially with the over abundance of them. The legends especially. How many Babe Ruth jerseys can there be that people are willing to let get chopped up? I have started actually liking plain old autographs better. I have more faith in those.

Me too. I much prefer Autos.
