2012 NBA Draft Thread

Hopefully our Team Can be sort of what OKC are like

from their 20+ wins in 08/09 season to their Turnaround the Next Season where they had 50 Wins

and of their 11/12 Season where they Made the Finals

its a long way away but It would nice if the Cavs can develop like that in seasons to come

I think every rebuilding team will try to model around OKC. But it will be very tough. I don't see Cleveland having 50+ win season in the next 2 seasons.

Neither do i sadly :(

But we can Develop really Well

Kyrie has been amazing for us

Its Thompson's time to develop more because he is one of our Massive Keys for us to Succeed

If we land someone like MKG, he'll develop daily because thats how focused and how hard working he is

Many People talk about Leadership qualities and thats what MKG has

it also helps that MKG and Kyrie played in High School together

So as we get closer to Draft, we can pretty much pencil in Robinson at 2 (behind Davis of course), and then which way does Washington go? I think they should go with Beal. Backcourt of Wall and Beal would put points on board and bums on seats. Bring Jordan Crawford of the bench for a bit of bench scoring.

And that leaves MKG for Cleveland, who would be crazy to take Barnes over either MKG or Drummond.

Kings should take Drummond, leaving Barnes for Blazers at 6, though I keep seeing Barnes as high as 4 in alot of Mock Drafts. I just dont rate Barnes that highly I guess.

It seems that like Washington, Portlands pick is very much still up in the air as they have the luxury of (like NOH) having two lottery picks, so one of those may be a pick based more on potential than precise positional needs, but realistically they need a PG (presuming that Felton is gone).

And for the record, anyone higher than around 16 who passes on Sullinger will regret their decision in around 2-3 years time. He will be (at minimum) a solid NBA role player for years to come, or possibly even greater depending on how his strength is effected by his injury.

And on the Pacers front, I am hoping that Fab Melo is still around late. He would be a great backup to Roy Hibbert and potentially would give us some serious trade bait in 2 years time, presuming that Hibbert is going no where anytime soon. And that will basically give Pacers quality backup at all 5 positions, giving us (arguably) the deepest team in the league. Just to avoid arguments, I am not saying in any way that it makes Pacers best team in NBA, just the deepest.

Not long now, less than a working week.

The Wizards hole is at 2 so all the mocks do have Beal going there. Leaves the Cavs tossing up between MKG and Barnes. I don't think the Kings take Drummond

Pretty sure we can pencil in Davis at 1, Robinson at 2 and Washington won't look past Beal so Beal at 3

Then I think the Cavs could go either way on Barnes/MKG

I would prefer to see Kings take Drummond over Barnes, purely because Kings have no Centre and no shot blocking, and I would love to see a Kings starting 5 of Drummond & Cousins up forward with a 3 guard setup of Evans, Thornton and Thomas. It would give Kings plenty of offense with literally no reliance on Drummond, so he can purely play defence (another Kings weakness). I suppose they do also need a small forward so Barnes would fit, but I still think teams will regret passing on Drummond in a few years.

I like that you have Harkless there, REALLY raw, but possibly the most talent in the draft.
