Kids these days....

Now what you should do is tell him that ebay said you had to report it to the police and now the police have said that you have to send the report number to his parents because of his age

Jeff, I'd be INSTRUCTING him to send an apology of no less than 100 words and I would also tell him that if you believe the apology is heartfelt you will no longer consider pressing criminal charges :)

I like it but what about a video apology on youtube instead?

All interesting suggestions, but have gone with Matty76's idea  Should be interesting to see if he puts his vocabulary to an appropriate use.

AND it has to be grammatically correct.

Got a response today. What do you guys think? Still surprised that amount of profanity and threats of violence managed to escape a 10 year old! But I guess the internet has made it easier for everyone to act as tough guys these days.

Dear griffo4312,

If you send an apology of no less than 100 words, and if the apology is sincere, I will not consider pressing criminal charges. I look forward to your response.

and I thought the 10 year old was the kid in this situation.... Some people in here are sinking to a level that doesn't need to be sunk too!

I agree that what he did is wrong, very wrong, but he has apologized, you have scared him and I think he's gotten the point.. remember the kid is 10, it wouldn't have taken much to scare him/put him back in his place like you have does it really need to be carried on? I can tell you right now, if my 8 year old acted like this I'd come down on him like a ton of bricks, but if this sh!t continued to happened like people want on here, my boy wouldn't be the only one feeling my anger/wrath.....

Not advocating any more threats or violence. Others have posted their own views and opinions (often jokingly). Pretty content with what he sent, I thought he wasn't going to send anything at all! The thread was more of a warning to block him on ebay and for others to see how easy it is for someone to act as a tough guys behind a screen.

Lesson learnt for everyone and I'll leave it at that.
