G'day good people of OCT,

I am interested in peoples thoughts on the best stratergies for selling NRL cards on Ebay, I have put my thoughts down next to each topic but would be happy to hear from more experienced sellers than myself:

Best finishing time = FRI / SUN / MON mid evening around 8.00pm
Duration = 7 days
Auction v Buy it Now = Auction
Starting Price = start at 0.99c
Photo = Yes for me
Individual cards v sets = inserts individually, commons as sets / team sets

Anything else that adds value?

Thanks for your input, I'm just looking to move on my doubles and spares that are starting to take over my office, also to start a slush fund for the upcoming Series II.

Very interesting topic Ross.

I agree with most of what you have said but im beginning to move away from starting prices at $0.99. To me they can be very hit and miss - for every good result there is a poor results. Here is a good example - both started at $0.99 within a week of each other.

Im more leaning towards listing them for a fair price but on the cheaper side of things. If i have to relist them so be it.
 
Definitely think early evening finishing time is preferable, but of more importance is what else is listed and when that finishes. As in, if I'm running a handful of auctions, and goldcoastcards have 100 auctions including some of what I am auctioning I reckon they'll get a better price than mine.

I think the market can be quite thin and technically it only takes two bidders to send something through the roof. If something hasn't been listed for a while it'll go for more than something that has had 5 sales in the past few days.

I've been listing things at about 50% of what I think they will end up selling for.

I'd sell everything through OZCT if I could - listing fees, final value fees and paypal fees really hurt.

Owen - could one of the reasons for the difference in price in the example be one has been written on while the other appears to be unmarked? I think someone else posted one of these that sold somewhere in between so maybe there is a lot of fluctuation with these.

Owen those two are an interesting example however after analysing them I would think ending the Auction during the last 15 minutes of SOO is probably the explanation for the poor price.

Definatley agree on how often that card has recently come up.

Here's a stratergy:I found finding a Cardzone listing at a crazy buy it now price and then timing my 0.99c auction to end about the same time has helped in the past.

Do you think 10 day listings help as you can have your item up over two weekends, potentially more exposure? i.e. list Friday night end the following Monday

Yeah i agree there on the 10 days.

As for that 1981 box i picked up 2 of them with 2 wrappers for $22 the week before. I think often results come down to how many people that want them
 
Most posts so far have merit.
Evening ending is often much better.Most of my bargain pick ups are from auctions ending in the middle of the day on a weekday.
I like 10 day listings starting on a Thurs night ending the next Sun. Gives 2 whole weekends and most ppl are at home Sun night for work the next morning.
Photo is a must but a thorough description just as important.
I love the Cardzone technique mentioned by Hobo and will try it in future
$0.99 start is not necessary nowadays as listing fees no longer exist. Just start it at your lowest reserve. However, sometimes more ppl are interested if you do start low. Hard to be definitive on that aspect
 
this might go without saying but a good descriptive title also helps.
Some people do narrow searches like "2012 NRL Champions" or "Select nrl" etc etc
 
Do your postage rates honestly, as we all know how much it costs!!!
and if you sell multiple cards, have your combined postage rates on your auction AND make it simple to understand!!

1.10 Day Auctions starting Friday Night ending on a Monday night at around 7.30 to 8.30... or starting on Saturday Night ending Tuesday night at same time.
2.Correct description in title ( Search for the same type of card yourself and see what you come up with ) ie all my items will have company name, release name, and card name in the title.
3.0.99 cents and get some buzz going....
4.Sell when something is hot... Follow the sport...
5.Make your add stand out from the crowd. Put together collections, Good Description, Good template, Good Picture.... ( Always have gallery pic ).
6.Deliver on what you promise.. Leads to more bidders and higher bidders in the future...

I will stop now ... I have already said too much!!!
 
Thanks, I just went back and I'm sure they said $25.00 p/mth and something about 20c listings per month, sound good to me, $300.00 a year....
someone just told me that there is a limit on how many itams you can list on a $25.00 p/mth store, not sure about this one..
