I would say it more comes down to availability than team preference. With Lebron unable to sign the new releases they are excluded from a lot of the nicer patch sets.

I've seen the same sort of patches from several players from assorted teams, I'm thinking durant and Westbrook have a few. I've often wondered what they were from.

Just had a look on the back of the card and just has the usual "the enclosed game-worn material is guaranteed by Panini America". I like how it was previously detailed on the back of the cards.

Thinking it is from the side strips of the All-Star jersey but could be wrong...
