I reckon this team has run its course... good enough for a solid regular season and playoff spot every year but nowhere near good enough to mix it with the beasts of the nba to really contend for a title.

Surely its time to blow it up and tinker with the roster... JOe Johnson is on insane money and will continue to cost the team between $20-25M per season for another 5 seasons!!!!!!!!! solid player dont get me wrong but he isnt a guy you build a team around, will be very hard to offload him though... most likely to go will be josh smith and/or marvin williams

thoughts?

I couldn't let Josh go. I think your hoping he will go to NY ??????

I didn't know Joe Johnson was on that, wow, someone got that wrong.
WOW, I'm still stunned, they'll never off load him.

LOL, Celtics are making another run ? LOL
You wish, what would Boston give up ?
I guess while we are at it, I think Atlanta should send him to Miami for front row season tickets.

Boston has nothing they could give up gor Smith, unless one of the big 3 go. I think the Magic have enough pieces to have a crack at him and hopefully that will keep Dwight there too. The Hawks need a pg, Teague is ok and Hinrich isn't a bad back up, but they still need a A grade pg.

Maybe a 3 way trade with ATL, Magic and nets could get done and each team could get something they really want! Tmac might end up in orlando again lol

not really... reason is because he is always consistently the one mentioned in trade rumours, there has to be something in that

They need to probably pay Ivan Johnson more. Bargain this season.

true, he has been good value compared to some of their higher paid big men... eg jason collins... and has done a nice job of being that clean up guy, should earn himself some more pt next year and hopefully a nice deal as well

even got eastern conference rookie of the month for april :)

Boston have KG coming off contract this year at $21 M.
If he was to play for league minimum, how much would that be for ?

T Mac appears to not have a home next year, he could play anywhere.
Atlanta only have 6 players contracted next year. Might be year for change.

keep horford and teague and send the rest away for a non-poser superstar :)

if they want to keep JJ and Josh Smith at least send Horford back home to (Florida) Miami in exchange for Bosh or Orlando to help Dwight

signing t-mac was a mistake (not as big as JJ) since there are reasons why certain players can't make it out of the first round

KG earned his money, he's been around a long time, with HOF numbers.

JJ isn't worth what he getting.
I would think T Mac is worth what he is getting, someone will offer him another season, and he desires a crack somewhere.
Teague is okay for me, Horford is also not bad money, really the starting five are earning their money apart from JJ.
They've got $60 M on 6 players, Atlanta is in a spot of trouble for me.

unsure to be honest about veteran minimum...

doesnt really even matter to him i reckon... scroll down to the bottom of this link and see how much he has earned in basketball salary throughout his 17 yr career!!

WOWSERS!!!!!

My point with KG is, if he takes another year for say $5M and gives Boston some space to sign some talent, they could be a real force.

I think T-Mac played decent this year. But yer I don't think the Hawks will ever get past the second round with this group, time to blow it up, but keep Johnson. Horford and Smith will hold heaps if value to teams, try and get some good trades for them!!

I've been waiting for them to blow the team up for years. Always seem to get the same results; decent team, but not playoff ready! Yet they continue without making any big moves.
