Am I insane????

hi,

Since around july last year I have been collecting again ( well buying boxes) after my long break. ( 15 years plus)
so far the only thing i have really been collecting tho other than buying random boxes, is the goodwin champions multi sport set. and have been getting a large collection of other random basketball cards and stuff i dont really want.
I keep getting told i need to find a PC player to collect.
Well to tell you the truth i dont really follow basketball, let alone NRL or baseball etc. so there is no one i have any motivation to collect in any sport.
What i am thinkin of doing, hence the i think i am insane for even contemplating the idea.
Is to collect TRUE! 1 of 1 cards. of anything.
any player / person / thing from any sport from any set?
I just thought it would be cool to see how many one of a kind cards i could get.
to start with id look around for the cheapest nobody cards i could get to get me motivated then start hunting down some higher $cards when i can grab a bargain.
any thought on this? Am i insane?or should i just pick pc player?

Well I love collecting, I cant figure out and dont really want to collect just one player ( or any really) and really do like the Idea of having one of a kind cards. The fact there is only one of them out there in the world is really cool, even if they are nobodies etc! or even some random card from any set,
if it is stamped/numbered 1/1 then id love to own it,
Besides a couple of printing plates i have i have one TRUE 1 of 1 card and it is by far my favourite card at the moment!
just knowing NO ONE ELSE has that same card is what i like,
is that a good answer?

If you don't want to collect 1 single player from any sport, then don't. Some 1/1's might cost some more than other cards but I reckon you should just collect whatever tickles your fancy.

I haven't met you in person yet so I can't comment on whether you're insane or not

Ok so the majority vote is that i am insane!
so I guess i will start the hunt!
I already have one card Numbered 1/1 does anyone have any up for sale or trade to help me kick it off a bit more? ( i want to start off small remember) ( and dont really want to go for printing plates unless they are patch or auto ones)

well, one of the theories behind going for Tru 1of 1 cards is that i didt need to keep a checklist as i should never double up on anything, well that has just stuffed that idea up lol

Not sure about the Press Pass, but it could be an error because it is not actually stamped 1/1.

But the Parkhurst one is a special release for a Sports card show! Panini do the same thing. They make 1/1 versions of an existing card and release then as a special promo card from an event.

The original checklist for 02/03 Parkhurst didn't have 1/1's in it. If you look at the stamp on the front of the card, it shows the marking of an 'event special' release.

Also, look at the colouring at the top. They are different cards. In this set, there were Gold and Bronze versions of the inserts. They have just made a special 1/1 of each of them!

It;'s because the card wasn't on an checklists that it doesn't have a proper name! So they have described it as best they can. But you are right, all they had to do is put 'Bronze' in the title of one of them!!
