Ben Gordon - fallen off the face of the Earth... major disappointment

YES!!!! I was looking for that article earlier... good find.

This pretty much closes the argument. You cant see it there but Kobe is 6th from the bottom with 31%.... Melo is right at the top with 47%

There it is folks.

And what name do you not see in this at all, LEBRON. Listen, Melo is a stud and from the beginning of the year until now has made strides in being a more complete player, but anyone that says he does not play defense is out to lunch. I have seen him play some brilliant defense in the last 3 weeks for the knicks.

I still remember one of the (if not the best) playoff series EVER (that I have watched anyway) between the Bulls and the Celtics with Gordon being the go-to man and being as clutch as ever. Seems like he fell off the face of the earth after that series.

Write up on the series..

"Seven overtimes. No playoff series can touch the Celtics and Bulls on that front, with four different contests going to extra time and two requiring multiple extra sessions to declare a winner. The back-and-forth battle between the two storied franchises and the mano-a-mano battle between rising young point guards Derrick Rose and Rajon Rondo made this a series to remember, despite its lack of big-picture significance.
Boston had won 21 games more than Chicago in the regular season, but Kevin Garnett's knee injury made this one a fair fight until the final game. Chicago's prowess in extra sessions helped, as each of the Bulls' wins came in overtime, but Boston finished off the series in Game 7 at home."

As opposed to wearing rose colored glasses? Correct me if I am wrong, but Mello has been a mediocre to poor defender since 2003!

Dont know mate, but looking at how the Knicks have gotten much better on defense this year and Melo is part of the team, then maybe they are not rose coloured as much as lite pink?

Most of the NBA does not play defense like they did in the 80's and 90's. Melo is just one of many who plays defense like a bull fight, OLE, however, his rebounds are much improved and its not like, hey, the ball just fell in my hands, time to dribble and run it up court. You have to work for a rebound most of the time.

Shame about BG. Used to light it up for the bulls. From memory he has had one stunner of a game this season, that's it. Maybe a change of scenery could help him. Seeing him start for a team that needs him, say the bobcats or blazers may suit.

Tyson Chandler is the reason their defense has improved, definately not Melo. There's still plenty of teams that play D like in the 80's 90's, check OKC vs Miami the other day. That D is normally saved for the playoffs but we got an early glimpse. It was great.

Think Indiana vs Bulls last year, vicious. It was terrific.

Nba is hotting up nicely now. We'll see Melo the Defensive stopper can stop the Bulls or Heat in the 1st round. Bye bye Melo.

I think Melo can play defense, he just chooses not to. I remember a playoffs series a few years back where he played some great D, I think on Kobe??

Today's game against the Bulls, case in point! ;)
