Controversy Corner - "Sig. Pigs"

I generally get 1 of each card I want signed but also take extras, picking the players knowing who wold and who would not sign more always helps. I know if Slate, smith or cronk are going to sign cards they will never sign any more than 1 of any card. Ferguson and B. Harrison are similar.

and j smith

Does anyone know this sig pig rat boys eBay name? If I know who he is I'll make it a point to stay clear of him. If people stop buying from him then he might stop but as others have said sometimes the only way for us to get some sigs is off a eBay seller

Blake Ferguson thinks everyone is a eBay seller he is always rude to people asking for sigs even when you ask him to sign two different cards most of the time he will only sign one even when no one else is around. I try & show some of the players who I know don't like signing that there is always several different sets of cards each year. Some then understand why you asked for two but Ferguson still doesn't. It's do annoying that he is a Raider now lol

I have been collecting sign cards for years and years. I started back in 1995 when the crushers were around and got cards signed. One thing dad took me was to always thank the player for signed my cards and always be polite and talk to them.

I always let kids in front of me get autos or i even give up my pen to let them have there chance of a signature most of the time the players see what i have done and thank me and sign my cards.

The most i gave one time was 3-4 cards. One time i did have a pile of 10 scott prince cards all different years and only 2 of the stike. My aim was only to get maybe 3-4 done. No one else was around at the training and i talked to scotty and he asked why i did'nt give him the others to get signed i said to him i did'nt want to me a hog and give him a pile of cards to get signed and seem like a sig pig. He laughed at the comment and took the whole lot and signed them for me. Top Bloke.

The other night lockyer was standing near the tunnel and i had a few locky cards on me. I have never ever gotten his autpgrapgh. I was really happy if he could sign all 4 i had. He asked why the double up on the strike i tild him it was for a friend who was right beside me but very shy to ask. Once he spoke to her she wished she had given the card to him. There was a guy who tried to give him a pile of cards and he looked at the guy and said nuh mate after the game.

At the end of the day you get knockbacks, missed out on the player or score big time but to me it's a hobby nothing else. I'm not in for the money, i'm in for it to show off to my mates hey look what player i got. I have never sold signed cards i like to trade as i know the other collector has worked just as hard as me to score a auto.

Sig Pigs are stuffin it for the rest of the good collectors out there.

I collect Broncos Auto's have over a 10 year PC collection folder, the only knock backs have been Ben Teo & Alex Glenn on last years stuff up cards, which is totally fair call, Corey Parker has signed heaps for me over the years & remembers that I collect. Darren always politely signed for me as well, my kids are usually with me & have had plenty signed as well including their own jerseys, we always ask first, never expect & only offer up 2 or 3 cards only more if time & no others. I do not get multiples of same cards only what we need for PC, never sold any have swapped a couple. Have seen a few in public over the years but only say HI have never invaded their own time, cheers Craig

I only ever get Parra cards signed and always say please and a stack of thank yous. Players remember this I think because these are words not often used these days. I also make a point if I see a player before the game of wishing him good luck, or after the game, I congatulate them or asked how they pulled up if I have no cards to get signed so they can see I am not asking them to sign stuff everytime I see them. Always let the kiddies go first and be happy to loan your sharpie out. I guess you could say I look like an ebay guy but this technique has worked for me. Only ever had 3 or 4 guys question me and every time it was at a fan day. I have never had a problem with Jarryd Hayne I'm grateful he has signed a ton of stuff for me. I have spoken to a some of these sig pigs and they always bag him out because he wont sign anything for them. Thats gotta be one reason for all you opposition supporters to like him.

Here is an idea for all you guys in Sydney who are sick of him. This is for the braver of you guys.

Take a photo of him. Don't hide the fact that you have done it, let him know, and tell him his photo will be Emailed to every NRL club and every player manager so they know that he is an Ebay seller.
^This^

Penrith already knows about this guy they gave him a 6 month ban last year. The worst thing is that he doesnt even buy a ticket to the game he waits at the fence and then comes in when its finished.

Hi guys , well i would also like to thank Dennis , Dave and a few other collectors on this great forum for helping me grow a super looking IP hand signed Broncos collection.... I also only collect 99% of these cards for my own personal collection but every now and then if a get a spare signed card i am willing to trade or sell for more Broncos cards.... I also know a few current and ex players in which i have no trouble in getting signatures from but to be honest i rarely ask them because i know that once i have got all my own cards signed by them i dont need to ask them for anymore unless if its for a card i need to finish off one of my signed sets.... Anyway thanks again to everyone that helps me out , cheers....

I don't actually get too many sigs these days, but there will be a Souths fan day sometime this season.

I'll give you a heads up and try and get some signed. I'll avoid the lesser players like Burgess, Taylor, Luke and GI :-) Just jokes.

He had a massive folder of the cards on saturday night while he was sitting on the ground.....I was tempted to spill a drink on them.

I had to laugh when Gallen saw him and said....nope ill do 4 for you and thats it.....sig pig replied, but they are new and different ones.

Omg is that the guy everyone is talking about. He always bids against me on Raiders cards even ones I know he already has. Wish he wasent a Raiders fan :( it might be because of him some of the Raiders players don't like signing much anymore

I think as genuine collectors & fans we need to make sure people like sig pig don't ruin it for the rest of us. Make sure when we get sigs we only give a player between 1-4 max at any given time & should always try & make sure there all different cards. It makes it hard to be able to get extras to trade but in the long run I think players will appreciate it & be more willing to do sigs for us genuine fans. If I see someone like this guy who is a known eBay seller I'll be pointing them out to the players for sure. Some players do remember faces & realise who the sellers are which is good

This guy is a joke and should be stopped. A number of players did ask why i had the same card twice i said one for my PC and one for a trade with other fans who can't make the games or can't get there auto. A couple of the players thought it was a good deed done by a collector. I only gave them 4 cards and moved onto the next. I rather get 1-4 cards done then none at all. Alot of the player seems happy with sign on friday night but i noticed there was one person there with a huge pile of cards i think at one time he gave the player like 20 cards and the player said nuh mate i'll do a couple and then come back later as the player wanted tomake sure everyone that was there got a chance to meet him. The looked really ticked off and moved onto the next player.

Wonder if this was the same guy.

It's embarrassing knowing he supports our team. I sit near the tunnel at the games and used to always see him hanging over the side of the tunnel with his box of cards trying to grab anyone that walked past. I haven't seen him at a Raiders game in Canberra for a couple of years now.
